i've got an 88 62 and wanna clear 33's but can't really afford an entire lift system like ome or bds. is this possible with shackles and add-a-leafs??? i probably need the add-a-leafs regardless b/c of sagging. if so which shackles would work the best??
i like man a a fre greasable anti inversion with a 2" over stock. i am trying to do the same lift on my truck. same here, don gots cash!! manafre also has the add a leafs. i thonk ill use the longer ones for mine. im also thinking of body lift. good luck and post pics of your progress!
with out a doubt. i would have posted some already but i can't get them to upload. but i'll probably use the shorter leafs to compensate for the arb and the kaymar bumpers andi plan on utting my spare tire on the back bumper....who sells body lifts??

if you have not purchased them yet... i second the idea of anti inversion shackles. an inverted shackle is just a PITA and i have seen it twice in the 5 or so times i have been wheeling. last time it kinked my buddy's FJ40 muffler badly (note to self, add hack saw to gear in storage bin of truck).
but yes, you should get the clearance you need if your springs arent too flat.
try these. hes got kits for all kinds of toy including fj60/2. i dont have any accesories on my toy and ive heard the longer ones give better ride, but less hight.
sounds good. i wheel more in sand and need that sort of flotation. haven't seen anyone with that set up but it just sounded like that would push it, you've proved me wrong...
doc- do you know anything about the MAF tranny cooler. i have to get one and was just checking their's out.

2" shackles. This is my DD after all.... My daily driving tires are the BFG 33x9.'5 that we spoke of avove. I only put the swampers on for wheelin'. Or if I want to look kewl.
You don't need much lift to clear them because they are skinny. If they were fat tires you'd need more lift.
Tranny cooler? Nope- Mine's a 60, and if 60's came with them, I never knew it.
The 33x9.5 tire that Connie (LandPimp's girl) is running are nice because they give 'free lift' and fill the tire well nicely.
Call me suspension virgin, but I have a stock 60 that I want to do the same thing too due to cash constraints. So Man-a-fre add a leafs along with having a shop re-arch and repack the stock springs, and then shackles. How many shackles do I need, do I need 8 total, or just one anti-inversion shackle for each leaf pack? Could I do all of this myself. I usually do everything myself (maintenance, upgrades, mechanical stuff, etc.), but suspension would be a new one for me? Expensive special tools?
i always assumed that wider tires gave better traction on all kinds of terrain. me be newbee too!!!
what would be the widest rim i could run? you know and stll air down . grassyass!
My rig has a 3 inch pinnical suspension lift on it. After some hard wheelin' and a heavy tool box added to the back, I needed more height due to some sag. I went with the 5 1/4inch SOR extended shackles (adds 2 inches), and recently installed Man-A-Fre's Add-A-Leafs (longs) into my spring packs. I clear a 35 x 12.5 Interco TrXxus tire without much rubbing. I also have not lost an inch of flex...in fact, now that the tires have more room before they hit the body, I may have increased my flex!
I would imagine the add-a-leaf and extened combo alone with clear a 33 x 10.5 without a problem...and probably a 12.5 with minimal rubbing.
**with the extended shackles: make sure to order shims to adjust the caster angle of the axle...the truck will wonder all over the road with out them!!
Its cool being able to run 35's on a non SOA vehicle...expecially in this day and age where everyone is SOA crazy!!! (eventhough I plan to do an SOA in the rear...and keep the front sprung under, eventually...)
I added just SOR’s long shackles to my ‘90 and will be fitting 33x10.5’s as soon as they arrive. Looks like I’ll have tons of room.
My advice though... get greasable pins and the graphite lube for the poly bushings. I didn’t and they are already squeaking.
Pic with my small 31x10.5 Wild Tracs...
My rear still sits slightly lower then the front, and more so when loaded up. So I plan to add the MAF logn add-a-leafs as well to the back only. Front still needs the 4 degree castrer correction shims too.
