shackles to clear 33's

what's the longest recommended extended shackle length? 5.25 sounds long, but then again, i know next to nothing about shackles...2" sounds tempting...

stock are 3 and 3.25 in the back right? so why does man a fre say to put the shorter one in the rear?

I have heard that 33X10.5 will fit on a 62 series with no modifications without rubbing even when articulating. I don;t have this set-up on my FJ-62 but what I do have is the OME heavy rears and med front and that was enough to fit 33X12.50 with rubbing only on extreme articulation. I had that setup for 100,000 miles with 4.88 gears. I wanted to fit 35X12.50 so I put on a shackle reversal in the front and the 2" extended shackles (5.5" from center pin to center pin) for the rear. That was enought to fit the 35s but I am not sure of the rubbing because I haven't put any miles on the car because it isn;t done yet. That setup needed the OME diesel heavy add a leaves to become back to normal rake, and I think if I were to run 35s I would need the add a leafs because it would probably rub.
