Replace the belt? Was this belt a Toyota OEM s-belt?

Yep, it helps for a few days only. And then that dressing slightly penetrates to belt material, gets sticky and collecting even more dirt.
Finally, once using belt dressing, permanently damage the belt.
Squeaky belt - is dirty belt. $20 - new belt. And clean up pulleys...

99LX engine pulleys narrower than on LC. Don’t know for what reason. My guess – to reduce weight and engine drag?:confused:
I know in some cases they even use lighter then for Toyota bolts with "grounded" heads :eek:.
 
Can we gather some statistics on belt widths? Everyone go and measure your belt and report the width in millimeters, the year of vehicle, and whether it's a LC or LX.

Ok.

I have a good friend that works at a toyota/lexus dealer in Mobile Al. I will call him and see if the part numbers are different.

I talked with toy/lex and the part numbers are the same between the two. Their was a part number revision but it applied to both trucks.

You going same way like I did: Idea to save $ on Toyota shop versus Lexus, then they told me it is same number like Lexus.
I found that it is different just when removed old one.
Then went to Lex. dealer, got right one and return prev. back to Toyota.

If that will help for reference I just measured it on my 99LX: 21mm
 
'03 LX, 21mm, OEM lexus belt.

Digging up an ancient post...

I have a 97 LC that has an incredibly squeeky s-belt. I have done the NAPA belt dressing trick...works for a day or two. How difficult is it to relace? I am pretty handy (pulled the radiaitor once...replaced the inner seal in the front end, etc.), but don't want to start anything that is a real PITA.

^^^ '97 model year LC, North American anyway ;), should be an 80-Series therefore a V-belt.
 
^^^ I've replaced alot of V belts on different rigs over the years but never owned/done them on an 80-Series. The others weren't more than 1/2 :banana:. If you truly have an 80-Series I'd recommend you post your question in the 80-Series forum...for a little faster answer.

If you have a 100-Series with the V8 then it has a serpentine belt. And this is also a 1/2...er maybe a 1/4 :banana: job to replace.
