All you can eat oysters for $20 starting at noon followed by some light wheelin' (bone stock trucks will be fine). Family friendly atmosphere.
There will also be a softball tournament, golf tournament, raffle with $500 prize, and I think a 5K walk/run dealio too. Last year there was even a petting zoo for the youngin's. There isn't really anywhere to stay in town, so bring a tent and a fishing pole(lots of awesome camp spots I can guide you to) or motel camp in John Day half an hour to the North. They pick the oysters up in Newport the night before and cover them with about 400 lbs of ice, they are still alive when they go on the grill. They also batter and deep fry them which is the way I prefer. Also lots of other food available (burgers, dogs, etc) for those so inclined. It's always a good time, and there is some neat country to see in the vicinity. After everyone gets fed, I'll lead a short loop around Bear Valley and hit the highlights. Any of the nasty spots are easily bypassed (mostly loose climbs you can do in high range).
Camp can hold 10 vehicles pretty easy, or find your own slice of solitude.
