Hi All,

I've been scouring the forum for ideas, trying to decide what steering gear (box) would do best in my set-up:

FJ55 with diesel/hydroboost system
GM 10 bolt with cross-over highsteer

Probably going to run 35's

I like the feel of my T100's steering ratio but prob can't duplicate it as it is IFS and (?) variable ratio.

I've found Toy IFS steer gears at "okay" prices.
I've found GM/Chev gears at good prices. MANY types, not sure.
I've found FJ60 PS gears at Mad high prices.

Not sure on specific models to look for, but would try to keep the gear in the wheel well area and not way out in front if I can.

Also would appreciate any info on pitman arm lengths (my hi-steer arms are about 7+" extension to TRE hole of the steering link)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Best Regards,
George

scout saginaw works good on piggy's .but
i don't know about your axle. 10 bolt? why?

Thank for that TooTall,

Any particular year Scout that I should look for?

I got the Corporate 10 bolt for free, narrowed to the right width and already with chromo axles. Originally out of a K5/Jimmy.

I'd spring for a D60 but at least will be setting the Pig up with the 10 bolt. I haven't measured the pinion angle but I think it is already turned as well...

makes sense i guess.. Im not a fan of 44's/10's on yotas, but if you got it for free and its got some cromo in it than

I think the scout box comes from the Scout 2's, looks like this

Hey Isotel,

that pic is very helpful. The pitman pointing forward is a stock
configuration I imagine (that is, no reverse cut gear)?

Last question, is that a stock arm? The length looks longer, like
the kind I am looking for...

Thanks again for the pic!

Best Regards,
George
