Seeing lights at intersections

I was thinking that a small spherical mirror segment (i think you can buy stick ons for side mirrors) put at the top of the A-pillars inside the cab might give you a view of lights at intersections that is normally cut off by the low roof line. If i pull up to the stop line I usually cant see the lights any more (if they are hanging)

Anyone understand what I am saying?

I'm 6' and seeing the traffic lights is hard. Not a bad fix. How about a sunroof, then you could see it.

I have the same problem, and adjusting the seat down would be uncomfortable if you are tall. Just my 2 cents

I think I look like an idiot at the intersention as I lean my head over to the passsenger side in order to see the stop light. Not too bad if my passenger is female, but if the passenger is male, I just sit at the light until I see other cars move and then go.

There is a real simple fix to this situation. Try not pulling up so far when your at a red light. You'll have a clear view of all the lights... Just pointing out the obvious.

Ding Ding Ding, We have a winna! FJ40s have the same problem along with every other vehicle with a vertical or near vertical windshield. Just stop further back from the stoplight.

I like the option about stopping so you can still see the light but here are a few more that work....

Option B, Most of the lights around me are both over head and down on the sides of the roads... I just use the lower lights off to the sides if I get too close to the lights...

or

Option C, wait until the guy behind you honks there horn and starts yelling profanities out the window at you

So what your saying is if you live in a big city you can't stop 5 feet further back than you normally would. Sorry but that makes very little sense. Could you elaborate?

Drawing purely on experience - here in DC (and suburbs) there's a 90% chance that you'll get honked at if you don't pull completely up to the light. Everybody wants to make sure they'll make it through.

I'm sure where you live people are a lot nicer.

From what I remember in DC, you start to go when the light in the opposite direction turns yellow!

I was simply pointing out that a $.50 plastic mirror might make sense. Sorry to have run afoul of all you 'common sense' advocates out there.

Why dont you keep your hood polished and you can look at the lights reflection off the hood.
