I am looking to expand my circle of wheeling buddies for local trail runs. I belong to a Land Cruiser club, it's an awesome group of guys but it seems we rarely want to wheel on the same days.

I don't have a lot of experience in recent years and am still shaking down my 40 after 2 years of rebuilding, but I am eager to hit the trails. One thing I firmly believe in is to never wheel alone. I have seen the results of that first hand. :whoops:. Not me, others .

So anybody looking for more rigs to wheel with? Don't make me join a j**p club! ;p

Hey guys, I just wanted to put my hand up. I just picked up a '96 FZJ80 and I'm starting to build it up. I'm also looking for other Cruisers in the Seattle area to meet up with.
I live in Ballard and have Jeep friends to run with at times but I'm selling my '02 Wrangler and would like to get in with a good Toyota crowd.

Feel free to PM me anytime for a meet up. I'm also going to be wrenching alot on the new rig. I have a lift to install for satarters.

Thanks
-Eric

Hi All:

You guys should come by the Seattle Cruiserheads December meeting.

www.seattlecruiserheads.con

In December we hold a"white elephant" gift exchange (Land Cruiser/Toyota/4wd/off-road/auto mechanics/etc.)

The host for December 2011 is TorFab up in Mukilteo:

I travel a lot for work, but am keen to get out. LMK. Was out of town for the December Seattlecruiserheads meeting at Torfab...seriously bummed...

Doug,

Missed you at Torfab. It was a fun meeting.

I hope to get in a show run in early January. I have not been out in weeks now and need a trip!

Steve

I need to get out also! Am in town through mid Jan, then out for trade-shows. Snow-wheelin sounds good, dont' care where or whatever. Any ideas?

I posted on Pirate and got this:

Tinkham road off I-90. I have also gone to FS72 in Greenwater

A $10 snow park permit is required at Greenwater (Naches area).

I'm thinking the I-90 area may be more fun and different. I'll post up some more questions as the date gets closer. Mid Jan sounds good to me.

I'd be down for a run with some fellow Cruisers! I just went snow wheeling over at Tinkham/Denny Creek yesterday with a buddy in his Ford...Yeah, I know, but it beat staying home.

There was probably about 1.5 feet of new snow when we were up there on Saturday morning. We got there early and were making fresh tracks along the Denny Creek road. The Cruiser did great floating on the fresh stuff aired down to 12psi. Once we got under the I90 East overpass, that's where we got stuck a few times. This was due to the fact that the snow plows were plowing on the freeway and the extra snow was flung over the overpass and falling on where we went under it. That was the longest/hardest 30 feet to travel because of that junk/slush snow. We got all the way to the end and usually we can drive down and are at Snoqualmie Summit ski area but this time the snowplows pushed all the snow there and it was basically a ledge. A couple of Jeeps came up after us and were able to drop down (first one almost flipping). Due to my longer wheelbase, I didn't want to risk it so we turned around and went back. Good thing too for a couple of Jeeps and Dodge truck since they were stuck a couple miles down and we yanked them out a few times.
I didn't take any pics but my buddies did; I think they posted and tagged me on FB. I think if there wasn't fresh snow from the night before, it would have been more difficult. The few times I got stuck, my tires were digging out the fresh snow and I was on ice for the most part.

Thanks for the trip report Salue!

So it looks like most of the people interested in a snow run are south enders. The forcast is for some snow this weekend and early next week. I had decided to cancel this run until I hard the latest weather report.

Looking orver places to go it looks like I-90 isn't that great after all. I am looking at some forest service roads off 410 and 165 as possibles.

410 Greenwater/Naches area - 70, 7000, etc (4k feet alt)

or

Evans Creek area off 165
Wilkeson area - 7710, 77102, 7720, etc. (4k to 5k feet alt)

I went wheeling last Saturday (1/7) over in the Colockum area(Ellensburg) and that was one of the most fun snow runs I have been on. We were going to do the whole route to Wenatchee, but decided to do a loop back out to Ellensburg since we were short on time; and that still took 10 hours, including a lunch stop.
