Thought I’d start a new thread for the Seattle area people. We can use this as a place holder for gatherings, trail runs, events or a shout out for help.

I’m on the Kitsap Peninsula (Kingston) and have an ‘04 GX470. It’s my...4th? 5th? I dunno. I’ve had a handful of Toyota products from mild to wild. The GX is nothing much to see other than a typical mall crawler now but it’s slowly evolving.

Post up and tell us where you are 206/253/425/360 people!

Renton here

I’m not on FB...which is why I’m here. But I do lurk on GXOR FB through my wife’s account. I checked out the PNW chapter and admired their main page though...lol.

Seattle (Ballard) here. I keep up with the GXOR - PNW.

Who here is planning to attend the NW Overland Rally? I’ll be heading up for at least one day ( my first time attending).

Pretty sure I’ll be going.
Went last year, first time...it’s a good expo with a great group of people.
Beautiful place too.

Anyone have an interest in setting up and/or hosting a PNW GX meet and greet? I had one at my shop space in south Seattle last year.

West Seattle GX owner checking in. Had mine for a few months and absolutely love it. I've read just about ever forum post on here so thanks for the great reads.

Unfortunately the truck has developed the "clunk" noise in the rear when coming to and starting from a stop. It'd be much appreciated if I could get a recommendation on a good, affordable Toyota/Lexus/JDM mechanic in the area. I'm somewhat new to the west coast and I haven't developed one of those valuable mechanic relationships and would like to avoid the Lexus dealerships if possible. Would love to get under there myself and learn a few things, but I don;t currently have the garage or tools.

Also would love some beginner trail suggestions. Trying to spend most of summer on the trail and under the stars

Thanks again.

Could likely be your driveshaft. They have zerk fittings at the joints. The symptoms you described commonly occur when the old grease seaps out and the shaft comes to rest when the body settles at a stop. Results in a "thunk".
I know you said you dont have tools but you can park 2 wheels on a curb and access the zerks even on a stock height truck to grease them.
A grease gun at Homedepot is about $30 and a tube of grease is around $9. Well worth starting to amass some tools and not having to deal with a shop on that as a first step.

Thanks man, appreciate the tips. I'll be doing that later today.

Yeos, I noticed what looks like a wind deflector and some other goodies on your stock rack. Could ya tell me what ya got up there? I want to keep my OEM rack but have considered putting some attachments on it but am concerned about increased wind noise. I'd appreciate it.

LFD Off Road crossbars and an Inno fairing. It's currently set up for a 4 gallon rotopax, shovel, Treds, and Rhino Rack awning. There is some wind noise, but it's not terrible.
