I have a 99 Landcruiser and the rear passenger side seatbelt buckle is on backwards. When you put the seatbelt on it has a twist in the belt. I thought somehow it must have gotten twisted and pulled through maybe before I bought it but I cannot put a twist in the belt and pull it back through for the life of me. The buckle is made with such precision it does not have a gap big enough to put a twist in it.

I have no idea how this happened or how it ever went this long without it being fixed but does anyone have any ideas? My daughter sits in that spot in her car seat and it worries me that the twist will not make the seatbelt perform as intended.

Mine does this from time to time ('99 as well). Bring the buckle all the way to to top the belt, fold the belt like a taco just under the buckle and pull the buckle down. This will flip the buckle to the correct orientation. It is tight but will slide through. Use soapy water for lube if you are having a hard time.

Good luck!

You guys must not have any kids. ;) Happens all the time, all vehicles. Although I strongly suspect that Mrs. OregonLC may have something to do with the shenanigans.

I have seen this a fair amount but I have never seen a buckle like the 100's with such a tight fit. In my camry I can fix it in 15 seconds. In the Landcruiser I cannot even get close. I've had 3 different people try it and nobody could do it.
I'm going to try the soapy water trick tonight when I get home. It's became personal now.

Once again the IH8MUD board saves me hundreds!! I used the warm soapy water trick and it worked like a charm. I soaked the whole entire seatbelt in a warm bucket of soapy water for about 15 seconds and then gave it a try. The first few times it still would not budge. I tried folding it in half on the other side of the buckle and after some serious elbow grease I noticed I got an 1/8" of it to go thru!!

After that it was just a matter of folding the seatbelt thru as I pulled the buckle down. Thanks DRMWVR for the warm soapy water tip. I even had a Toyota service manager stumped with this problem. It's nice to finally have this resolved.

Lol. True story. Happens all the time to me when hauling kids around for church events. Have no idea how they manage to do it...but they do.
