Last October I purchased a new 2023. So far, my impression based on rattles, is the front is Lexus, the middle row is Toyota, and the rear would be Scion. There is no point for me to take it back to the dealer because they are rotten to deal with and so is Lexus based on issues with the AC temp problem I have so I’m off to see what I can resolve myself.

Two main sources of rattles are with the middle row dual seat on the driver’s side. I've not begun to see what is making noise in the rear.

  • There is a significant amount of movement/play in the seat that causes it to rattle. This first source seems to be related in some way to the rail/slider bar. In the rear-most position the seat moves/rattles the most. Moving it forward a notch does reduce some of the noise. Firmly holding down on the slider bar while driving eliminates almost all of the noise.
  • The center seatbelt ratcheting tensioner that is located inside of the seatback rattles. The noise seems to be inside the tensioner unit itself.
Has anyone experienced these issues before or have any ideas on where to look to address them? Especially with #1. #2 would be replace the tensioner and see if that resolves it.

Does it rattle all the time or only on bumps and washboard roads, going fast or slow?
Have someone drive while you sit in the back, and see if you can pinpoint the noise.

It's pretty much constant over the smallest of bumps. While driving I can gently place my hand on the seat and the constant loose movement is felt. Without removing the seat it seems to be with the mounting of the seat to the body or the seat to the rails.

My glovebox rattles constantly. I ripped the whole thing apart and padded parts. Still rattles. My passenger seat rattles/clicks when nobody is sitting in it. Can't figure that one out either. I just turn the music up.

Now that you mention it the front passenger seats makes sounds like you described even with someone in it.

If I very lightly put pressure on the seat back (pretty much just the weight of my hand), pushing toward the passenger window, the rattle goes away. I've looked all around under the seat. Can't find anything causing it.

My 470 had the same problem. I removed the decorative plastic pieces between the metal seat posts to solve the problem.

Agree on the annoying rattles, ours got bad after I took it wheeling a few times…it ain’t new anymore but still very annoying.

Have you resolved your rattle yet?
