hhhmmm....I changed a setting in vBulletin to allow for FullText searches (new db server allows that extra workload) but for some reason, it's requireing 4 characters to search....

I'll investigate further...

you can cheat it tho...search on PTO* (* being the wildcard)

Thanks for *. Was wondering why I couldn't get any results for "oil"

it's not "fixed" yet, it's still in process....

we'll see how the server reacts today tho, posts 900,000+ are all indexed, and 800,000+ are in process....

working in stages today, hopeing to make it run smoother...the system timed out last night around post 375,000....

last 125k posts will be indexed tomorrow....#375,000 thru 499,999

from the batch 500,000 thru 599,999...
Processing Time: 16,010.54 (ie: ~4 hours)
Total Posts Processed: 98179 (under 100,000 due to deletions and non-indexed sections)

still searching PTO? lol

try more words than just one....made an adjustment due to server loads recently, some changes in search methods are part of that...

I just searched 'pto winch' and got lots of great thread options....

'iac valve' returned dozens....

I'll look into it more, but haven't been able to find any problems...

and, see post #8....

you DO realize that the first posts in this thread were from 2006, right??

the other option at this point is to allow the server to continue to have load issues for users....the site is too busy for vBulletin's search to work effectively, and I'm making necessary changes to keep the site performance as high as possible.

Woody
I've changed my primary search from PTO to BJ7* and am having problems. I presume it's from the recent switch. (Just so you know, I do more than just search here!)
Thanks
Peter

:bounce2::bounce: nor does it seem to require a 20 second wait between searches (which sucked if you made a typo). If this was an oversight on your part, please dear lord don't switch it back, and I aplogize for bringing it to your attention...
