Well I had planed on cutting the rear quarters. Doing the research to decide how to do it, and found this post. Henry is right, I just can't cut a perfect quarter with no rust. So, I ended up beating the dents out of the other side. Re-Welded as best I could the seam. Sprayed the bottom part of both with Rocker-Shutz because I really liked how it turned out on my rockers. I'm going to paint over the Rocker-Shutz with my handy can of OEM matched spray paint from Automotivetouchup.com Touch Up Paint, Aerosol Spray Paint and Paint Touch Up Accessories.

So, I'm tired of the dust that works it's way into those body seams back there. I'm positive my welds aren't dust tight. I'm going to seal the quarters up using some 3M™ Brushable Seam Sealer, 08656. I intend to clean out the quarters then brush this junk on to seal up the holes. I'll keep the small rubber oem knock outs for drains.

Later this week my new mini 1/4 sliders will be here. Install this weekend.

:bounce:

after talking to the folks at the auto body supply house I decided against the paintable seam sealer. It is thicker than I thought, and wouldn't be self leveling enough to just poor in there like I thought.

I ended up using McKanica Black Aerosol Seam Sealer. It was messy, but I think it will seal that seam better than the other choices.

My mini-sliders are here. Welding them on Friday night, just in time to bend them at katemcy.

i need to do the same on mine, although i choped about 4 inches and rewelded the rear quarters to fit the sliders i made. how does that stuff go on? the link picture looks like it has an applicator. did you leave a drain/weep hole area for any water to escape through? how much does one can cover?

Thanks

It is an aerosol can, so you unscrew the cap and it comes out when you push the lever. It's think but I'm ok with how it worked out. I stuck the tube in there, pulled the trigger and gooped it up. Put on a rubber glove and spread the goop into the seam.

I left the oem rubber knock out for water. I think 1 can would do 4 quarter panel areas.

Pictures please.......:D
