I am taking some people out over Labor Day weekend to show them some things they'd probably never find on their own. The initial group is a couple trucks from Mid-Valley Crawlers in Salem. I have an invite up at Cascade and am also posting invites to Central OR Cruisers and RCLC.
The rough route starts from Lakeview. We will head up into south Hart mtn from Hwy 140 to a super secret destination involving petroglyphs, then possibly over the Pueblos to Fields, onto Willow Creek Hot Springs, then to Three Forks or another Owyhee River spot I know, if there's time. I plan to continue from there on my own toward 3 corners/Star Valley to see what's what. Haven't been in that area but I have 7.5' topos for Oregon/Nevada/Idaho so I'll likely be able to find something interesting.
Any and all are welcome to join in for either legs or both. I have to be in SLC by Sept 10 to pickup a friend and continue to a run in San Rafael Swell in Utah that my uncle is leading.
My requirements are you have a solid truck (or are a clever mechanic!) that can do 250-300 miles without refueling and have a working CB or 2m (HAM) radio and can operate it. Terrain is pretty easy, with the worst being 2wd truck type clearance. Extra tire repair gear would be a good idea. I have two spares and a full patch kit.
Camping will be from no facilities/primitive to established primitive camps with a pit toilet. You will want to have enough food and water to survive for up to a week (standard high desert kit).
email me if you want to go, along with your contact info. I may miss your post otherwise!
