Well the cheap little Losi radio worked perfect with the novak goat. But my nicer JR doesn't seem to work very well with it. I had to play with the end point settings and move the trim all the way over prior to running the setup mode on the goat. After messing around for 30 minutes it would finally neutral correctly and reverse.

They dont seem to run very fast on 7.2v packs, but it's a crawler not a racer.

I need an 80 series body !

the 80 series body is a little small...but it is an 80 series rc body nonetheless. lots of decals.

change your gearing if you want a little wheel speed. smaller pinion for crawling....larger for wheel speed. watch your temps!!!

try that link again please, didn't work for me. Would love to see the 80 body.

Just saw this thread today and I hope that your builds are going well. I would guess that you may be looking at a couple of days to finish, especially if you are building two of them. They are great fun. My wife got me one last year and it took me about two weeks working a couple of hours a night. I was also picking up parts along the way so since you have your radio etc. maybe you will be quicker.

The little screws for the beadlocks suck, but the rest is pretty straight forward.

Post some pics when you get them done. My wife got me a Bruiser rolling chassis for Christmas this year and I have another chassis at the house with a hilux body for it. I will probably restore this one with the three speed intact, and will do a coilover on the other one and make it another crawler to go with my honcho.

Merry Christmas,

Tucker

Update! Got one rolling around by the end of christmas day. Though my wife was not very happy with the fact that I sat there woking on it for 12 hours instead of doing other stuff. The bead locks are about the hardest part if you ask me. I have not touched the second one, which might get some mods as I build. I think the 4200 mah nicad pack puts way too much weight up high so i might do the second one different.

I also think i'll put some lead in the tires! Any thoughts on amount???

Has anyone done twin battery packs next to the frame above the sliders? I would think the smaller cell packs could go there real nice and give a lot of run time.

I ended up having to use super glue on the bead locks of my losi. I would clamp them down as best i could and they would hold for a while and then blow a bead.

Finally got sick of it so i ran a bead of super glue around them and they are solid as a rock now!

Also, just use motorcycle sticky weights and put them in the fronts only. I honestly can't remember how much is in mine but the fronts are pretty heavy compared to the rears.

Can you get me measurements off of the Toyota crawler body? I'm looking to modify a body to fit my slash, and that one looks sweet and would be pretty cool if it fit. Could you also post up a photo of how it attaches to your rig underneath? TIA

Update: I got both of them rolling pretty good now. I also ended up buying an 80 series body that just showed up yesterday so i've got more work to do on one of them. Though my boy wants a "lexus" too!

I tried to blend the paint with a couple colors which turned out ok but has some flaws. I didn't spend too much time on the Yellow one as I had placed the order for the 80 body by the time I got to painting that one. It was also about 34 outside when i painted and the painted didn't work real well at that temp. I need to get the bubbles off the window of the Orange one. Also need matching Lexas paint for my RC LX450. Any ideas???

Great looking crawlers! Could you measure how wide those bodies are?

They just use normal clips and towers. On the left crawler you can see all four clips. The other one is just sitting there and has not been mounted yet. I'll measure tonight when i'm home.

The reason I'm asking is I want to put one of those bodies on my slash 4x4 but if it's too narrow it wont work. Trim the front fenders more and it would work awesome. No fenders to bottom out and rip up the body, and crack it etc.

Width at the sliders/rocker = 7 1/4"

Width at the widest point of the front fender = 8 1/2"

Looks like it should fit width wise. Whats the bumper to bumper length on the body? or the wheelbase on the crawler itself should give me an idea
