School me on the 100 series

I'm getting the itch to get a 100 series. I want to know the differences within the 1998 and 2007 LC. I know the 98-99 had the Rear locker option. But other than than don't know what separates the rest of the years. What are differences between the older ones and the new ones? Stronger engine, available options etc. For instance on the 80's the best years are 95-97. Is it similar with the 100?

Thanks for the input. I'm an 80 guy but the 100's have caught my eye. Also, is the 100 ride a ton better than my 97 80? Or is the ride quality negligible? I realize that IFS will ride better but wondered if some of you felt that the 100 still has that "truck" type of ride.

On the ride: Because it's so heavy, definitely feels like a truck to me, with a bit of AWD thrown into the mix. Ain't no car for sure.

Just like 80's, there are pros and cons to every year. What is "best" is a matter of personal preference.
Early years come with a factory rear locker, simpler in-cab electronics (no nav), and 16" wheels.
Later years have a 5-speed transmission, ATRAC, and (generally) fewer miles.
