Scepter gas can holders?

I made a marine ply box (1/2" material that is glued and screwed together) to hold up to 5 jerry cans. I have a section of thick rubber on the bottom of the box and then slide a sheet (surplus conveyor belt rubber) between each can. Then some flat furniture strap to tie it down to the rack. The box is bolted down to the rack.

I can put 2 cans flat inside or 2 on their side and one flat or 5 on their side. I choose how many can I need based on the trip I'm doing and planned fuel stop locations.

Between the 5 cans and the fuel tank it gets me around 1200mile range (diesel). I've run this setup for 20+ years and never had any issues or problems.

edit: yes, there are drain holes in the bottom edges of the box for when it rains.

cheers,

I just got one and it's not wide enough for my two 20L scepter cans.

whaddya reckon that tarp looking thing is thats strapped to the bottom? Some kinda cover for the whole rig for camo purposes?

yeah, that's how we used to carry our camouflage netting in the USMC versions of these vehicles. It could also be a custom made tarp that fits across two HMMWV's parked back to back to make a light blocking mobile CP (can operate maps and radios, not have too much light leak out).

From the pics it looks like they would flip out , nothing securing the top sides of the scepter's.
I agree. I was going to get this till I saw that picture. Does anyone have any issues with the cans falling out to the side?
