Unfortunately the time has come for me to part with my very unique rust free patina’d 1962 FST. I love this 40 and it pains me to let her go but it doesn’t get used nearly as much as it should and I have some other projects I’d like to pursue. So here’s the chance to own a truly one of a kind 40.

Basic specs

-13B-T with Rebuilt Injection Pump/ injectors and fully resealed all new hoses throughout.
-Good used H55 resealed and shifts smoothly with no noises, new clutch kit, machined flywheel, rear main seal, pilot bearing, etc
-rebuilt splitcase
-40 series factory Power Steering Box fresh rebuild
-late 40 series Front Disc full rebuild with Koyo bearings
-70 series Full Float Disc Rear full rebuild with Koyo bearings
-Front and Rear e-lockers converted to cable actuated shifters
-Old Emu 2 1/2" Lift, Bushings, Perches/U-Bolts and Shackles
-Custom Roll Cage
-Full 60 series PTO
-brand new Tacoma 16” steelies and 255/85r16 KM3s
-New starter and alternator
-New custom length drives shafts with new u-joints
-Uber cool Safari Split Windshield
-Custom Buffalo plaid seat covers with custom rear bench seat

Mechanically this 40 has been completely gone through by me and is fully dialed in. Aesthetically I think she is a patina master piece, 60 years of perfectly aged Cruiser awesomeness. She spent the first 57 years of here life in AZ desert letting her retain a truly rust free body and has been stored in my shop since I took ownership.

A Couple of items to note:
- I do have a set of FST doors to go with it. They are currently being reskinned by my upholstery guy.

-Prior to my ownership the glow screen system was removed so if it is cold out she will smoke a little until warmed up. I’ve not had a problem getting her to crank up even down into the upper 20s.

-The front cable locker can be tricky to engage sometimes requiring you to turn the steering wheel back forth to get things to engage.

- The split-windshield while super cool and rare doesn’t seal particularly well in heavy rain. Though I think it’s a small price to pay for the coolness 😎

I do run a Cruiser shop full time now so if you are interested in the 40 but would prefer having changes or upgrades done I am fully capable of providing those.

What do you have for a top? I see the bikini top - other options?

I would not hesitate to buy anything from JP. He’s rock solid and his work is A+ quality.
Thanks Nolen that means a lot coming from you!

This really is a special 40 it’s made up of a lot of unicorn parts 😎

@Dangler

The rustic bikini top and matching doors are all I have. I’ve always prefer my Cruisers top less so this set-up served my needs. It will surprisingly keep you dry in all but the biggest down pours.

I did speak to Julie at Dirt Road tops about making one for me as she has previously made the ‘61-‘62 specific soft top. Unfortunately she said she had lost the pattern and would need for me to leave the 40 with her to make the top from scratch. I just never got around to getting my 40 up to her as it wasn’t a high priority for me.

All that said she has the ability to make a high quality top and I’d be happy to work with her to bring that to fruition for the next owner.

Thanks!
JP

I don't know if it gets any better than this if you're a 40 series lover? That seat cover material is the cherry on top!

It was fabricated before my owner ship. But from what I remember it was done by a shop that built race car tubular frames. It’s much less intrusive than the Metal Tech cage I had in my 45. Not knocking Metal Tech by any means as they make a fine product but the way this cage ties into the dash leaves all that leg space free.

2x. Where did the roll cage come from? I like the design, it works.
Some details on cage execution here.

I wish I could make it happen on this truck. 3 months ago, I would have bought this and sold 2 (or 3) of my 40s as this would give me everything I am after in a 40. Just bought my neighbors house as a long term investment and all the fun money has evaporated. Some one is going to get a 1 of a kind vehicle with so much cool factor it cannot even be measured.

@Indygbd @EWheeler

Thanks for the kind words guys! I bought this thinking it’d be a perfect family trail rig and it is but unfortunately my location and lack time don’t allow me much time on the trails these days. Looking to get a 45/60 wagon that I can use for hauling the kids around.

I just noticed that rear bench appears to be custom built from a couple of front bench seat frames with appropriate rear panel covers. Bitchin. Just asking for the sake of asking - do you have the original windshield frame that goes with the truck, or did it come to you with the split frame only?

Yes those are two front benches spliced together to make a full width rear bench, good catch!

The 40 did come to me with the split screen windshield only but if an interested party wants the period correct stock one I can provide that “fauxtinad” to match the rest of the 40 😎
