i have a very small leak that seems to comeing from under the center of the manifold on the drivers side. i dont know s***t about chevy engines. is there a freeze plug under there?

there is no freeze plug there, there are however ports that move coolant from the manifold to the heads. you probably just need to pull off the intake manifold, clean it up, and put new intake gaskets on it

sorry i was talking about the exhaust manifold not intake. thanks for the response. maybe your still correct and im just confused?

Yes, there is a freeze plug right behind where the motor mount bolts on.(handy!!)Kind of a bugger to get to. Good luck:cheers:

is it a newly rebuild?
when i rebuilt my sbc, i installed new brass freeze plugs and on the first start up the rear passenger weeped i tiny bit aswell. and that one would have been a beast to replace because of the starter location.

i used alumaseal and it works great now. its sold at autozone and is about the size of a roll of quarters.
its safe with aluminum radiators and its not that goopie sludge that was used back in the day for radiator leaks.

you could also need a new head gasket on the drivers side. coolant runs through the head in order to cool the head (shocker, i know lol) any way, if it is coming from behind the manifold then i could be through either the gasket or freeze plug. if you can see the coolant coming out above the motor mount then it would be your head gasket, if the upper portion of the block is dry it would be a freeze plug...

ok i pulled the manifold off to get a better look. its not a freeze plug its a f***in crack in the block  :crybaby:. just when i got it running the best it ever has :bang:. its a small leak (for now at least) so guess i'll try some of that block sealer stuff at autozone. hope it holds long enough to make the southern cruiser crawl this weekend. then start looking for a motor :crybaby:. thanks for everyones help .
