I was driving behind a tractor trailer yesterday, daydreaming as usual. It was one of the hundreds I see every day,
traveling across the state between customer sites. I had checked in the mirror to see if traffic was in my favor
and allow me to pass this rolling road clot, but it was not meant to be.
I was going to be here for a while.
This rig happened to be carrying cars. There was a Tacoma on the lower level at the rear of the trailer.
It was one of the older ones that had Toyota displayed across the tailgate with decals instead of the plastic chrome lettering.
I thought to myself "Hmm. Wonder what dealer bought these..maybe they're headed to an auction or something..".
Then I saw a newer one above it.
"Why would they put two Tacomas at the back? Maybe its just a coincidence, I'll see what else this guy is hauling once I get around."
Then, as I passed the rig I saw them. A trailer full of Tacomas of varying ages off to meet their ultimate demise.
The first thing that flashed into my mind was the truck full of chickens I had seen in Chinatown the day before.
Crammed tightly into boxes, trapped with no chance of escape; there they waited.
It honestly was an odd feeling seeing them on that trailer, chained down and headed for scrap.
Its good to know that a company can still stand behind its commitment to quality and safety.
It was a rare thing to see as well. I'm glad I grew up with a Toyota.
