Been a busy winter with the Toyotas. First I had to make some decisions regarding the 86 FJ60. It was my sons daily driver for the last 6 years and it was beginning to show wear & tear from it's age and exposure to the PA salted roads. Thought about moving on and selling it before it rotted away to the point of no return. After conferring with my son we decided to save it and get the body work and paint done. He wanted to keep it, the reality is we didn't really want to sell it. Had the usual rust in the rear wheel wells and doors. Also replaced the hood and where possible all badging, trim, bumpers, door handles etc. Went with OEM when available. Purchased Cruiser Corps rear wheel well panels (worked great) cut and replaced all necessary sections with new metal. My son wanted to change the color and I said ok as long as it is a Toyota FJ60 color. In the world of good, better, best decided to go with the better paint job. Not a show car but sure looks good. Next dilemma was finding him a new daily driver. The 86 is going in the garage for the winters! Looked at some 100 series and trucks. With our limited budget we were able to find a 2008 FJ Cruiser. Ok condition with average miles. One owner and it was not wheeled. Fun to drive. Hope to get a few more years out of it. Counting on it to be Toyota reliable!

Lastly it was time for the wife to get another vehicle. Looked at many of the other makes. Audi, Benz, Jeep and Land Rover. It always comes back to a Toyota and we ended up with a 2018 Lexus GX 460. Old school luxury. Very impressive vehicle.

I'm about tapped out for now but it sure is fun reviving the 60 and having a some more Toyotas in the driveway.

My brother recently bought a 2008 FJC for his son. It's a 6 spd manual and has impressive power compared to my 2014 FJC. Curious about your truck. Assuming it's an automatic.

Thanks for posting Bill.

Yes the FJC is an automatic with 140k miles. No complaints about power for a 6 cyl. Seems to be able to get out of it's own way. I would like to try it with a manual trans. Didn't come across any in our search.

Excellent choices. I make my money on german cars and good choice going with the Toyota. I have an 07 FJC with 150k on it. I bought it with 90 on it. It’s been good to me. Very capable off road, great on road manners even with the lift and load range e tires. I have zero plans of getting rid of it any time soon.

Thanks blair. Good comparison and good to know. I talked to some of the FJC owners at the annual breakfast, anticipating we may be looking and no one had a bad thing to say. They're really holding their value and I knew with our budget that we would have to buy something with a few miles on it.

Yes I still have the 2 40's and the 55. Ok, I admit it. I have a problem. Not sure if it's the Cruiser obsession or the fact that I can't seem to get rid of anything. Next project is clearing a spot for a future pole barn.
