Got everything on the underside plugged back in.

Blew all the gunk out of the heater core and am just building it back up one piece at a time.

Took it for a drive. I need to tune on it when I get home and I’ll be able to make sure it’s ready to go home. Had a nice short drive and now it’s back inside.

There’s two collar rings in there, they’re available new

Sam found this.

My plan is to try to fish that end piece off without taking the whole thing apart and killing the Remflex. May work. May not. I have plenty of Remflex.

People in that thread comment on putting new springs on and it still leaks so I’m gonna add new springs AND add some RTV.

Aight.

Back at it with this thing.

After I got back yesterday I checked the fluids after sitting up and there was still a little slime in the coolant. Probably a glob or two of it was in the oil cooler, heater core or something so I dumped a bottle of block cleaner into it and drove it about an hour yesterday. Did a final drain and fill.

Today I tried to fish out the one side of the intake that was leaking without pulling it all apart but that did not work. It all has to come out. One side was good

One side was

Rings are in. Leak is gone.

One thing I was not happy with before is I did not feel like I was getting full power.

I set the timing at 12 and took it back out. Then I checked to see if the secondary plunger was being activated and sure as s*** it wasn’t.

There is barely any adjustment in the linkage but what I found was that the bushing on the firewall bracket had fallen out and the rod was moving just enough to keep the secondary from opening. See where my finger is pointing. I found another bracket that was good. Swapped it out and boom

Now it’s getting full gas and it’s running hard. And quiet.

Couple more drives and it’s headed home.

@wngrog I'm always impressed with your full disclosure, tenacity, and inevitable victory. And, documenting it all so some of us get an education and a chance at improving. Thanks!
Haha. Well no one learns unless we disclose. Also I want my customers to know what they are paying for.

Also I often go back to these threads to remind myself how I did it….
