Hi guys, I bought a SAS Kit from Sky's and started the install last weekend. Got everything out and cut off, cleaned up the frame rails and I've got a few questions. The install instructions that Sky's has on their website leave a lot to be desired, but that might just be me not knowing what I'm doing lol.

I've drilled out one side of the frame for the rear hanger already BUT there was a giant weld BB on the outside of the frame that I didn't notice until I had drilled the hole... so the location of the hole I drilled is about 1/4" back from where it's supposed to be according to Sky's instructions. Is this a big deal? Should I weld it back up and redrilled it? Just drill the other side the same and run with it? I attached a pic of how far off it is.

The next question is about the offset of the tube in the frame rail, they say to offset it 1/4" to the outside so that it lines up with the front hanger. I'm assuming this measured from the center of the tube? So measure in the center of the hole to the edge of the tube 1/4"?

Do you guys recommend going with the stock hanger location or the 1" forward location? Planning kind of a "Rocklander" type build so its not a dedicated crawler but want to lean more to that end of the spectrum and drive it around of the streets too.

I plan on calling Sky's tomorrow but it was a pain last time I tried to talk with them on the phone, so I figured I'd ask on here and see what everyone says.

Thanks!
Jake

the tube holes need to be true and parallel to the front pin holes.
the front pins need to be located appropriately for whichever spring you're using and shackle angle you desire.
sas isn't a one size fits all thing.

It's a Sky's SAS kit and I'm running Sky's 3F springs up front.

I just did my SAS w/ the 3" TG front kit. Front hanger is flush, rear is as far forward in the body mount you can go. Any further back and I'd have ended up with a less than ideal shackle angle. Not sure the differences with the Sky leaf packs, but I wouldn't weld anything fully in until you get full weight on the axle.

Like these guys said, as far forward to the body mount as you can go but it HAS to be aligned with the front holes. Off too much and you won't be able to get it assembled. Off a little and you will eat bushings.

The best thing to do is not weld anything permanently until you have your tires on and some weight on it to get an idea of where your tire sits and a rough idea of shackle angle. I say rough because the new springs are going to make it difficult to tell exactly.

Moving the front forward gives more room at the rear of the tire but you have to be aware of your steering box and linkage. A lot to look at and make sure works before you weld.

Good luck with your project.
