Lots of guys out there are using the 2.5 litere Subi engine in their sand rails. Some use the 3.5 v6 Honda then start going towards american muscle when those are not enough.

The Subi and Honda can crank out close to 500 hp with some decent work after about $12k or so. Spend a good deal more and they can get about 600+ hp out of these little beasts.

all I want is a V6 pushing around 300 hp to the wheels, which is more than enough to make my little 1000 lb sand rail scoot accross the dunes.

So I was thinkin aobut the engine I have in my FJ Cruiser. 4.0
also the 4 liter Tacoma engine. Not sure if they are the same motor though.

Not sure what Toyota engine I should go with, but I know I want somehting different from what everyone else is doing.
If anyone has any suggestion please let me know. I am all ears.

Twin turbo supra six cylinder ;)

Can you get an adapter to mate the Toyota motor to your transaxle?

just go old school...2.0 ish vw air cooled buy them cheap runem for ever super light weight run a74 or 76 crank with some 90.5 pistons cbs fuel injection kit done.....

One of these would be fun in something light weight and go-fast...

500+ HP reliably all day long for not a pile of cash either.....
