Any suggestions on a LC tech in Salem? I just got a 60 last week and it needs a pretty complete review and definitely a tune up. Hasn't seem much action or service for the past 5+ years.

I am tempted to go to the dealership to get all OEM parts and someone I can bitch at if not all goes well, but I have not had great experience with Capitol Toyota in the past. So, I am a little hesitatant.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

thanks

thanks for the info. The sticky with LC mechanics - I swear I must have seen that fifty times and didn't even think about it when I needed it!

Taking her up to LC NW in Portland this afternoon.

Thanks again! Mike

I never had a problem at Capitol Toyota. Then again I usually search for the part number before going there. They have even given me a 10% discount when I tell them about the TLCA.

Exactly, if you do your research and go with part numbers, then they can get you what you want. Never had them give me a TLCA discount and I have mentioned it to Tim the parts manager on many occasions. I use them when I have to, which is to say when I need a part tomorrow. If I have the time I'll use CDan for my parts.

agree

I will concur on avoiding Capitol Toyota for service. It was hard for me this time since they are ten minutes from my house. But I dropped the truck off at LC Northwest in portland and they seem like a pretty straight operation. Plus, it led me to take the day off and go drink beer all afternoon with my baby sister in law, so that worked out great.

I have a couple of relatives that have been not happy with Capitol on routine maintenance. Both pretty naive on mech issues. Mother in law took her newer LC in for "service" which she inferred was a tune up and oil change. She came back to $2800 service bill. Who knows, maybe they really needed to do $3k worth of regular maintenance on a 1 1/2 yr old truck, but seems like they should have cleared it before they did the work. I won't even start on the trouble my wife had. Never piss off an Irish woman.

Thanks all..MJ

Capitol has asked me if I wanted to buy valve shims for my valve adjustment... and if I'd had my timing chain replaced. I politely declined and left.

MJ if you need any help on yours I'm close by.

I'm in Medford and am thinking of spending a couple of vacation days and bringing mine up to the Portland area for some mechanical work. Let me know how it goes with PNLC; I was planning on going to Over The Hill.
