Guy I know in the UK got his Safari about the same time I got mine. His was built up for touring in about 4 months. He and his lady regularly tour the North African deserts.

Before somewhere in Morocco

After somewhere in Spain

Amazingly, they both got out with minor injuries but had to be cut out by the fire department. They were rear ended by a 3.5 T truck while driving back home through Spain. It was beleived the driver of the truck was asleep. Their' estimated speed at impact was 58 MPH while the trucks was estimated at near 90 MPH. Hard to believe they came out of that with minor injuries. I think his next rig will have heavier custom rear bumper.

He didn't see the truck coming? It looks like he was lucky to get out without anything major (other than the loss of the truck). We had a close call like that a year ago last Christmas. My kid yelled at me just in time and I was able to swerve enough that the guy clipped the rear and just broke the tail light and marker. He didn't even slow down, in fact I think he matted it and we lost him

wonder if the the white cab-over in the photo was the culprit - looks like he smacked something in the front - crazy that they survived at all.

He didn't say the culprit truck was in any of the pics.

Apparently he didn't see the truck coming. Just one minute they were happily driving back from a great trip and the next minute all hell breaks loose. Always thought he was a lucky bugger to build up his touring rig so quick and to have so many cool trips. Both of them surviving without major injuries confirms that they are very lucky people.

Yeah, I like Spanish women too. :)

Actually, when I was there I found the women in Madrid to be a bit on the b*tchy side - nice looking but b*tchy. The Swiss, German and Dutch women at our week long meeting were the fun ones. :) Perhaps it is just Madrid? I had a friend from Barcelona who was a lot of fun. At least she knew how to party all over the world on dady's money.
