Hey ya'll... Need some opinions. I ran into some hard times, I'm debating selling my 99 Land Cruiser 100 to try to recover from the crap I'm dealing with (will replace ASAP :)) ... I'm curious what ya'll think I could get out of it?

It's easy to look at stock prices and guess, but once mods are figured in things get weird with pricing sometimes. Especially depending on how old some of the aftermarket stuff is.

Any idea what I might be able to get out of this?

So here's my basics:
1999 Land Cruiser 100 V8 w/Factory center/rear lockers - 197,xxx miless
  • New brakes (front) - Rears in good shape
  • New TJM Bullbar
  • New Rigid LED's for driving lights (alot brighter than headlights and legal) (Tossed the halogen lights the bumper came with)
  • New Chinese lightbar/ and 225w 9" lights (crazy f'in bright)
  • New Warn Xeon 10-S (10,500lb w/synthetic line) winch
  • New Factor 55 Flatlink
  • New factory Toyota (Tokiko) shocks
  • New OME Torsion bars (the bumper+winch required it to get it back to level) (along with fresh alignment)
  • New Goodyear MTR's (305/70/16's - 33")
  • New 10.1" Android headunit (chinese but works great for stuff like GaiaGPS (offroad map app)) - Runs most android apps (most non-chinese units won't do that for "safety" reasons).
  • New snorkle (not installed but will include)
  • New dual battery setup (Bluesea ML-ACR + Slee dual battery tray w/compressor mount - Both not installed - Just needs battery and cables to complete

That's basically it, everything I've done has less than 400 miles on it (it's my second vehicle and was only ever intended for overlanding/offroading. Never got a chance to actually use any of it offroad (not much time or money currently :/ )...

It's what you'd expect for 197k miles... Got some scratches/dings (not from me), the leather seats are pretty bad (originally came from Las Vegas and the heat)... They don't bother me, but you could get some cheap covers easy enough... it's an offroad toy, I don't really care too much about the seat condition.

Only other noteworthy flaw is the plastic woodgrain crap is mostly gone. The heat killed most of the adhesive and over the years it seems people have pulled off most of it. Could be replaced for like $150 or whatever with a kit online, wood, carbon fiber, whatever... Personally, this was another thing I didn't care about.

I only have a handful pics currently (its dark out), if I decide to sell I'll take a bunch of pics and post it properly...

Thanks everyone!

Nice looking truck. Sorry that you have to sell :(

Thank you... :) Yeah, it sucks, but if everything works out by this time next year I can start another project... Plan on recreating this truck (plus add a bunch of other stuff I had planned) ... Really do love the truck, I just don't have anything else valuable enough to help that I could liquidate... Oh well, such is life I guess... Thankfully Landcruisers will still be around in a year or 2. :)

Judging how these things are built, probably much much longer.. lol

Agree, it is a good looking truck (exterior) but sounds like the interior might detract / distract for many potential buyers. I would guess you should get between $11-$14K for the truck if you can sell it into the Seattle market. If the seats are really a distraction, you might put on some seat covers... I bought SOR Tuff Ducks - custom made in US - but there are many less expensive options too. GLWS

A general rule of thumb is the value of the vehicle (KBB or similar, local prices of Cruisers in your area etc.) plus add about 1/2 of the cost of the mods at most... I'd pay a bit more if they are exactly what I wanted.

Example, your Cruiser is worth $10,000 for its year, age, mileage, condition etc. and you have $10,000 in mods... I'd say it's likely a $15,000 (ish!) truck.

Good Luck if you decide to sell. Should sell quickly as your 100 looks good.
No shame in being selling to be responsible, like you said, cruisers and mud will still be here when you can return!

If you decide to sell, let me know. This is exactly what I am looking for.

10k w bad seats. Less in the southeast. more in the north west.

Can you borrow against it? Or maybe pick up another job for a few months? I'd fn' hate to sell a project that I intended but havn't gotten to use. Good luck with everything.

@lt1fire thoughts? ideas? since you are in Seattle area

Hard to say, but to the OP, i'd get the cheapish seat covers from L seat or what ever it is called, looks are everything in this market.... after that i'd say it should sell pretty easy for 10k. You could most likely go higher but if you need a fast sale that's not the way to go. I've seen similar trucks priced higher around here sit for a long time on the market.

If you want a professional opinion reach out to Tor @torfab he could set you straight about the market here and what he would think it would sell for. Great guy..... likes beer. ;)

10k?! Good luck, sincecely. But based on what I'm seeing in the NYC market, I had the chance of getting a 2000 Lexus LX470 with 200K miles for $7500. No AHC.

I myself got my 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 with 215K miles for 5500$. All it needed is new tires. Again, not sure what your market is like, but when I'm shopping for a car, I don't care what kind of chinese lighting "mods" you've added, whether it has a snorkel, winch, or dual batteries. I'm not paying a dime more for any of those things that, frankly, make it look uglier in my opinion. So I hope you find an enthusiast who would value those mods just like you do. Otherwise, I'd say your truck is worth no more than 6-8K to an average buyer.

I have recently been considering moving to a 200 series, so I've been halfway watching 100 prices to see what mine might sell for. My gut on yours says $10k would be a bargain and $15k would be high. Maybe $12k?

Dang, I can't think of any other vehicle I'd rather have in the $12k range.

You could get $12k - $13K, IMHO. Anyone who is looking to build a Cruiser knows what the parts cost that you put on it, and they are pretty much brand new. Your market is not someone looking for a stock truck, anyway, so those are not fair comps for it.

I agree with 12-13 k I bought a 2001 very similar to yours minus the winch for 9500 a couple years ago. I know you will do what you have to do, but coming from a person that has been in your position more than once and sold a rig to get out of it. If you really love your cruiser and plan to replace it, find another way out of your jam. You will regret it and may be back in the same jam a year later with no cruiser. Then if you do buy another one you don’t know what your getting in comparison to this one where you know exactly what you have.

If you have service history, timing belt, etc. documented, I'd say 12k sounds realistic for a quick sale in this region, esp. with the rear locker. It may go for less if the interior is a disaster or there's a ton of rust. You may want to just keep the Bluesea / battery stuff and snorkel (to sell separately or keep for future use) if it's not already on the rig. You'd basically be giving it away, anyhow.

Typical New Jersey response, lmfao. Truck is worth 7k stock. New bumper, add 1K. New head unit and lights, add 1K. Knobby tires, add 1K. Truck is white which a popular color.

Truck in northwest, where everything is more expensive, and rust free.

10k is a fair price, but I’m not a know it all from jersey.
