Looks identical minus the L. Anone try it?

it's the same casing, just compared mine to a lexus one. only difference should be the fcc id numbers on the back, and they might even be close, not that it matters a whole lot, though...

If a Lexus key has the same FCC code it can be programed to work on a LC, that's what I have.

I am thinking of just swapping cases. Saw one for 19.99 on ebay. Like I said, it is a spare so I do not care if it has the L on it.

Mine just unscrewed. Not following you.

unscrews just fine, but the actual removing of the metal key part i have a problem with, it's really well attatched to the other half of the case and won't come out easily

The metal Key part is made into the plastic where the holes for the buttons come out . the other side / the cover is held on by a small serew
1/ if your cover falls off due to the screw pulling through the plastic you may replace just the cover / any 98 or newer lexus key any back will swap
2/ if the metal key portion has broken loose from the plastic ----your screwed --- new key time.

dug through my old key box and swaped the covers around from key to key if i can find a newer toyota lc key i will try to swap a lexus back onto it as well

cheap fix

I posted this on a previous thread- my key had broken away from the shell and this worked- still working today! might sound cheesy but it works-

Mine broke the same way- (Actually, when I bought my 98 recently the seller handed me the 2 broken fobs in pieces!) No way I was going to cough up the bucks for a new one. Used a small amount of JB weld inside to stick it together (clamped together w/ a c clamp) Then after the epoxy dried, I plastic welded the seam closed around the perimeter of the key (using donor material from the second failed part's shell) After I was done, I filed it down and sanded it smooth. Looks just like the original, except there is no seam between the halves

Obviously, once the transmitter battery (which I changed out beofre doing this!) dies Im s.o.l.. But till then, Im in good shape- Been using the key for 2 months now - No problems!
