Rusty dan was kind enough to take pity on me in my down time and entrusted me with a project for him...The mission...FJ40 half doors!Got em cut this weekend, and started to cap em off. Little more difficult that I thought it would be as the interior of the door is not flat like the outside, so it was a challenge to get the measurements right, and I had to graft in some paneling on the inside to make it work both for me and for him.Heres the start.K

aaaaand some more.FYI...rusty is going to make an interior panel to cover the inside and skin it with something, so it doesnt have to be flush with the contours.

Very nice. So does this mean there is a future "Chicago Fabworks" business in the works?

You got a lot done since we talked last night. I'm jazzed. :bounce::bounce:

HA HA...Id love to do something on the side like that, but itd be hard to charge someone for the hack jobs I do.K

Put some dividers inside the door and they become a nice place to put gloves, oil, etc. and nice work.

Nice Job! When things slow down let me know Keith and maybe we can put that Anti-wrap bar on my Cruiser. If you need money up front to buy some material let me know.

We already talked about that, all my other Toyotas have a pocket there and they are very useful.

Thanks Mark.Regarding your wrap bar, the one thing I noticed with your rig, is that the exhaust is DEAD IN THE WAY of both the x member, and a good location for the wrap bar.Can you do me a favor and get some pics of the belly of the rig? From what I can remember, the exhaust location is KILLER for this project, and the only location is having it hang way down which doesnt do you much good if its gonna hang up.K

Thats his plan with the lower holes. Hes gonna run some speakers, and make the larger hole a pocket. Thanks!Keith

Got more of the doors done today.
Pseudo finish. Still need to do some more on the weird upper part of the door.

BTW Dan,
Are you still planning on putting a cover over the top or something?
If not, Ill slap a little filler in some of the low spots, but if so, I wont bother completely finishing it off...

Lemme know!

I'll be putting some kind of arm rest on top, I don't want to bust an elbow.

What are you thinking for that?
I can finish the upper part off then, or will you run it all the way up?

I'm not sure yet. It will probably only be on the flat section. I might see what I can find at P&P one day next week.

Did ya get the wrap bar stuff done?
I was expecting a call on that too!

All that is left is the VERY top cap where it flattens out again and I got the template for it, so all I have to do is cut it out, weld it in and finish it.
Ill slap a little filler in the upper pieces, but leave the flat arm rest deal unless Im feeling really ambitious.
