Guys...new to the board and 60 ownership. Learned a ton here. Thanks in advance. Two days ago had my fuel tank replaced under recall at the local dealer. I waited one day to change the fuel filter just to make sure all the junk had passed. Replaced the filter and the next day it is full of rust particals again...at least a thimble full. I was suspicious when I picked the truck up and the exact same fuel level was in the tank, figured they wouldn't put that much gas back in for me. My question is this. Are there any other fuel components that would put rust particals into the fuel line? Wanted to find this out before I accuse the dealer of putting my old fuel back in my "new" tank. Truck was idling ok before since the fuel solenoid had just been cleaned but now won't idle again.

By the way the truck has 100k and is completely stock.

seems like the new tank would be easy to determine from outward appearance ...

Crap in the fuel line may take a little bit to clear...

If they dumped the old gas back into the new tank....guess you might have a nice mix of crap...if that happened.

Seriously doubt the dealer did not install the new part...once again that should be very easy to tell by external visual inpsection.

Rust in fuel tank could also mean rust in the fuel lines.

Put up some pictures of the tank. Should be easy to tell if it was replaced. Furthermore, the tank replacement includes new vent lines, so they should be new too.

Its crazy but wait awhile. After my tank change out and fuel pump I change 3 filters back to back. It eventually cleared up. My guess crap stuck in lines

Thanks for the feedback. The tank was definitely replaced. I can tell by looking. I waited a good 30 miles or so to put the new filter on so that I would have had fresh gas in the lines. The guy that installed the tank was out today at the dealership so they will wait until Monday to see what he did with the old fuel. I will maintain my hope that he had enough sense not to put the old fuel back in. If it is the lines are those something that I can do or should I let the dealer do it. Keep in mind this truck only has 100k and zero rust, but I guess that if it sat up years ago it could have developed the rust in the lines. Posting a pic of the old filter and a pic of the truck for the heck of it. Thanks.

go stock up on fuel filters... I don't know if the metal fuel lines are still available as an OEM new part but I'm sure aftermarket stuff could be made to work.

I actually had it idling very good with that filter after the fuel cut solenoid was cleaned. I guess enough stuff got through to clog up the idle passages. Carb was recently cleaned and rebuilt. Will wait to say what the dealer says.
