Murf's post on the Martinez Canyon loop got me thinking about trails in the Florence Junction area. It seems that every time I am out there I do the same trails and there is a ton of stuff I have never been on. Does anyone have a list of trails that are being closed and of those trails I would like to get out and do the MUST DO's on the list that we are loosing access to.

As a side note I went down by Gila Bend to run the butterfield stagecoach route this past Sunday and the whole area is closed to motorized vehicular traffic. They say it is for 2-3 years for re-vegitation but we all know that means forever. It's a shame it's in both of the books for Arizona and it's beautiful terrain.

Thanks Inkpot for the reminder - some of these areas are hard rockclimbing areas that only the hardcore rigs go to while others are not. Nevertheless, any area closure to offroad traffic is a detriment to the many who enjoy the outdoors. Like Clarkrw3 said, these areas are being taken away one by one and even temporary closures that usually turn to permanent. LIke so many other things in life we dont want the vandalous and /or vocal minority to dictate the world around us.

I see so many helpful, generous, and thoughful offroaders/outdoorsmen that immensely outnumber the idiots yet we see the evidence of the idiots existence (trash/damage/theft) in many places. I dont know what the answer is but I can appreciate the efforts of groups like CSC that get involved in group cleanups, etc.

Sorry to go off but since I was born here ( I used to ride motorcycles and horses from my backyard staight to the desert) every year more and more land is getting closed off and its irritating. I know, it is natural evolution as more people move here.....
