Not to my knowledge, or atleast I've never had one on any of the times I've run it. The permit I was referring to is the temporary use permit for the vehicle itself.

Ahhhh...

FINAL DETAILS-
Meet at the I-17 and Carefree Highway gas station (NE corner of intersection) at 9 AM Sunday 9-21-08. We will be vacating that spot at 9:15 (or earlier, if everyone who posts [CARL] is there) to run down the Carefree Highway to Castle Hot Springs Road.
We'll air down right where Castle Hot Springs Road turns to dust. Any stragglers can catch us there.

So far I see Carl (Blues Dawg) and Rob (robj). Please post up if you plan on joining us so we know who to wait for at the meets.

I'm out, but Bob (red Jeep) was thinking of going anyway - Spike, give him a call six-two-three/five one-two/five-nine-zero-two.

We are still in. We'll meet you (literally) where Castle Hot Spring rd. turns to dirt. We'll be in a blue fj40. say 9:30 ish, Are you guys packing lunches or plan on eating at the Bar?

thanks Rob

Lunch at the bar is difficult on Sundays, as they close early if they open at all. We'll probably take it fairly easy and eat somewhere along the trail- preferrably in the trees. :D See you at the dirt!

I called Bob and he's in, meeting us at the dirt as well.

Holy crap that was a long day. The trail is nowhere near the 'dirt road' it used to be. The road isn't particularly challenging, but it's very rough now. The optional obstacles ARE more challenging than I've seen them in the past.

Rob and Bob were great company. Rob's 40 is beautiful- my wife thought it was a brand new kit car or something. Bob took his Jeep through all the obstacles, forcing me to follow or be called 'yellow'. :D

We saw a Chevy pickup with the left front tire removed right by the place where the trail washed out a few years ago. Found the owner later up the trail being given a ride to CK by some kind folk. Turns out he had been exploring behind Pleasant and followed the signs to Crown King, not knowing how far or difficult it might be. He shredded his RF tire, then shredded the spare a few miles later. He stopped when the trail kindly removed the tire from the rim. The wife and I gave him a ride back to his truck with a spare tire/rim he bought somewhere in CK. He then followed us about a third of the way back to Pleasant when his right rear tire gave up- all 3 tires with shredded sidewalls, all 3 A/T's of dubious lineage. He parked it at the picnic spot and we gave him a ride to the Chevron ad I-17 and Carefree Highway. All in all, 12 hours from gas station and back. I'm tired. :D

Good to hear that erosion is improving the trail!

Wanted to go, but needed to save all of my "get out of work free" cards for the cleanup next weekend. Good thing I didn't go, got the crud, been coughing up a lung.:o:mad:

Thought I'd check this out for any snake pics ;)

I've got a few of one of the rattlers, but they won't upload and I hate playing with pics. I don't even know why the one pic did upload, I tried several others without success. I guess that's one of the problems with being starless. :meh:

Got one!
