in TLCA Sanctioned events section.. It's really fun. REALLY FUN.. Anyone interested? If you've never run the "Con" before this is the way to do it.. But I do recommend going ahead and driving back out the way you came in from Loon Lake instead of dealing with Cadillac Hill.. Why? Cause ya might get to spend another day out? THere are also a ton of other cool trails in the area I'm sure I can arrange some touring of if we get some trucks out there..
I'm seriously considering it.. REally.. Who can I influence? If someone has a 5th wheel trailer and is willing to help pay for a hitch for the towrig I might be willing to investigate towing 2 trucks out.. But only if I can get the veggie oil thing figured out!
Here's my best impression of John Belushi in Animal House before the big ending!

Chris? Comon.. You'll be a daddy by then! Sherpa? You might even have a truck that runs? Mike? You can tow out! Rob.. Fire that bad bus up! BOB? Well, we'll understand if your tired.. Chef? NO EXCUSES.. YOur a panzy if you say no! I will shame you into it..

I do know it's a huge thing to even comprehend but we've got time to work out some details.. I can get the M416 out and pull parts etc.. YOu just give me the I wanna go and what axles and drivetrain and I can prepare for the stupid pedal antics..
Thoughts anyone?

Too Tired?? For Rubithon?? Wha chu talkin about, Willis?? If you can come up with a 5th wheel, I gladly help pay for the hitch and fuel. :bounce: :bounce2:

Besides, I ain't gettin no younger, ya know! :D

No.... actually it was 2 years ago :D

I'm thinking .. Veggie oil conversion on the ford.. @ approx $1200, storing up at least 200+ gallons for the trip. probably using about 130 gallons each way at maybe 13mpg? If I'm towin Bob with me then I'm guessing we'd be down to about 10mpg. That'd get us there! I might have to build a filter on the fly setup prior to!
Otherwise we're looking at a bunch of fuel!
Could we just borrow one of your truck drivers and a big rig? How bout your Crane operator that was at Tuttle? I really doubt he'd be all that interested tho! :)
Rest-stop sleeping, if we can get 2 trucks per tow rig then we have 2 drivers per tow rig and less stops going out.. Now coming back? YEah we're probalby gonna stop more often..

Chris.. you forgot beverages! Geesh.. It really is a great time! One tip I think I wanna try is using the cot as a bikini top.. Seen it done and seems practical..

I'd love to run the Con! My only hang up is the green to get there. I've use a semi-trailer before to haul rigs over to Arkansas. Should be able to get four rigs and a couple m416's on a 53' trailer. I wouldn't mind getting a gooseneck and pulling a coupld rigs out. Could prolly even borrow my buddy's new Duramax.

I think the best scenario would be to see if we get enough to do a car hauler? or if not then possibly 2 rigs per tow rig that can handle it.. With a 5th wheel I think it'd be fine.. It'd limit packing to the minimal stuff but we're gonna do that anyway.. Would like to possibly take the M416 as well as support.. We'll need to itemize our parts list and pack accordingly so each of us knows what the other has and don't double up unless it's really needed.
I'd rather use the ball style 5th wheel instead of the big rig style.. You can get those that drop thru the bed and hide really well.. Not so much on the big rig style..

Car haulers prolly wouldn't want the trailers, but I don't think flatbed drivers would care one way or the other as long as we can strap em down. We used a dry box to go to Arkansas a few years ago and were able to load most of the camping gear in the trailer too. Don't wanna load everything in case he breaks down tho......

Reckon I gotta start sav'n my pennies huh...

If you all decide to do the semi route let me know. I'd be happy to meet them out there early. I'm planning on going. Lots of stuff to do to the 80. This might mean no Cruise Moab but there is a slim chance that I'd fly to LSLC Roundup. I'm working on that. If I cancel CM for sure the LSLC event becomes more realistic. Flying to LSLC and driving to Rubithon seems like a good combo this year. If I go to LSLC I'll be riding shotgun in a big green wagon :)

Drive em!

Yea talk about a trip of a lifetime. When Frydaddy and myself did it, 52 hours from Ky to Tahoe.

With Erik's top speed of 18 - 20 mph he'd have to leave in March to make the event :D

And Erik's tires would be worn out from the wobble before he got across the rockies.

Seriously, if you all are going to go let me know and I'll do what I can to assist you. Also, I should have room in the 80 if someone wants to ride.

There might be another possibility too. Creig might be bringing his 60 to live at my house. If he did that I might tow it down to the Con with my 80. That would be 2 wagons worth of room. Pack your sleeping bags and cameras and fly into Sacramento or Reno.
