Hopefully the battle wagon crew has made it home safely, the wagon no doubt is sharing stories of glory and destruction with the other trucks in the driveway for now. Soon to be moved into covered parking to keep the UV from fading the paint (ok, maybe more for the soft top :) )

Bummer about some of the troubles, but in typical battle wagon fashion due to the perseverance of Steve and a host of parts she rolls on. Awesome stories, talk about an adventure though! We'll be waiting for ya'll fueled and ready.

I knew bringing that third was a good idea!
Amen brutha ! Thank you for the spare parts!

Terri and I flew home from Colorado yesterday. A BIG thank you to Bret for his hospitality and looking after the battle wagon!

The next trip with it will probably be back to Florida. The drive train is having conflicts with the diesel engine. I'd hate to be up on Blanca Peak or out in BFE somewhere and break. Just can't carry spare Trannys, clutches and transfer cases.

Going to return with another build or rig.

The carnaged axle in the luggage must have raised the curiosity of the airport TSA agents.

They cut all the tie wraps of packing around the axle and put a note in the suitcase

Arrived in the mail yesterday. The Rubithon chairman sent these awards.
Everyone we met out there was awesome.

Also arrived late last week...
The Battle Wagon is home. Decide to have it shipped home. The plan was to leave it out there for future wheeling trips in Colorado, but it proved unreliable in mountain driving. After weighing in the cost of a plane ticket back out and travel expenses, decided to have it shipped home.

A Very big thanks to Bret for storing it, meeting with the transporter, delivering it, overseeing the loading, and probably leaving work early that day.
It doesn't get any better than that!!

It arrived safe and sound with all contents and no additional scratches or dents

A pic Bret took after it was loaded. It arrived sitting on the back of the trailer the same way.

you may want to consider taking pics before and after transport incase theres scratches and dents. wait are we talking about the brown 60?

Just got mine. First time I got mentioned in a national publication. They did caption a photo wrong. It was supposed to be of the Battle Wagon, but instead it's a nice 40. I wish I had a 40 that looked like that.

Al, Nice avatar!!
Probably going to plan for a new truck, maybe a mini early next year.

Will the battle wagon live on as a beach mobile or be parted out?

Agreed? Whats the plans for Battle Wag? Making another stab at Rubi next year? Inquiring minds want to know!

That truck needs to retire to a Land Cruiser Museum... I can't think of another cruiser that has seen as many trails around the US as that rig has for as many years as it has. I still remember it getting stuck in a lake in a FLCA gathering 8 or 9 years ago.

Damn that's a nice 4 Runner!!! That's what I'm talkin about!! That's perfect. I'd REALLY like to do a ground up build, but I'd be too old by the time it was finished. Would love to find something like that 4 Runner for sale or something 1/2 or 3/4 the way of being built right.

Got a couple car builds to keep me busy till early next year. After that I'll get into search mode.

Will the battle wagon live on as a beach mobile or be parted out?

I'm a big ole sentimental puss. Can't bring myself to part it out. For now it'll be a beach mobile or join the ranks of the butmobile historic collection. It has dry covered storage in the backyard pole barn.

No Rubi next year unless I fly out as a passenger. Terri's turn next year to pick the big annual vacation. I don't think she'll pick the Rubicon. My turn to pick the following year. A good guess is that it will be the Rubi, it's on the bucket list.
