My partner is away in our 2005 hdj100 and is reporting that on compression of the right hand side rear suspension there is a clunk/thud coming from the rear axle/suspension. She says it doesn't feel like its wandering on the road or wallowing and that it's handling ok.

It has stock rear shocks, but aftermarket springs of unknown height, I think they add 1"-2" of lift. The rest of the cruiser is stock.

Sorry I can't really ad much more info as I am relaying this from my partner.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Stock shocks could be bottoming/topping out, shock could be blown, any number of bushings in the suspension/sway bars could be rotten or missing. If it's not affecting drivability, then it's just an annoyance to track down later on.

Cheers, just has my partner worried as she is still over 500km from home. As soon as she gets in it's going on jack stands. I've already been scoping out a set of fox shocks, might have to refresh the whole rear end while I'm in there fitting them.

Ok now she is about 250km from home and reporting intermittent vibration from the rear axle. I'm assuming that could be wheel bearings, diff or tail shaft.
