This site will find most suppliers. Here is a quick search I did, you can narrow down the results by miles from your zip code using the navigator on the left side of the page. Steel Tubing on ThomasNet.com
Years ago a few of us locals went in on a group order of 2" DOM and I think it came from PA or Chicago, can't remember. It seems the key to getting a good deal is to order in quantity and have it delivered to a commercial address with a loading dock. If you are not a company making a huge order many sales desk people don't want to waste their time talking with you.
All the local steel suppliers like Potomac and Arlington can order you DOM but you will fall over when they quote you a price since they normally don't stock DOM. They key is to order from a large steel co where DOM is a normal stock item. Marmon Keystone with places in Richmond or PA was the closest supplier to our area last time I checked. You should start a thread in the CLCC and BBRC sections to see if anyone else wants to tube. While a group order can be a PITA it can bring your costs down significantly unless you are placing a large order yourself. I know Lance at Iron Pig usually has a nice supply of tube, he may resell a few sticks to you also.
Check out Metal Supermarkets. They're nationwide. METAL SUPERMARKETS - Buy Metal Online - Small Quantity Orders for Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Hot Rolled Steel, Cold Rolled Steel for Delivery or Local Pickup
Check out Craigslist as well. I found the DOM wall tubing I was looking for there.
That's great, I found a place in Kentucky that sells it also, Metals Depot® - Buy Small Quantity Metal Online! Steel, Aluminum, Stainless, Brass. They sell it in small quantities, $10.70 per foot, a little high, but I don't need that much right now. I just need 10ft to do what I want. If this goes good I'll be checking into getting more. I'll shop around then.
Thanks guys,
Mike
