Nice rig, love the turbo setup. How much does that kit go for from safari?

You mean, how much did it go for?.....I dont think they make it anymore. Atleast not unless they get an order of over 100 units.
IIRC, the whole kit was around 5k, but someone who knows better should corect me if im wrong.

Thanks man, the kit used to sell for something around 5K IIRC. They are now "out of production" for the 80 chassis in general but AFAIK still available for the 100/105 series with the same 4.5liter 1FZFE engine? Not so sure anymore about that??? You can still purchase a purrrrtttty brand new beauty straight from safari for 80 series 1FZFE's as long as it is in a lot of 25 units or more ... so, we either wait for a vendor to purchase 25 units at a vendor cost of 3.5K to 4K or so, or we get a group buy going! Put it this way, the turbo is so super sweet that if it indeed is available at any time in the future, I would want to purchase one first and then go out looking for lovely 80's to mount it to, yes its that sweet! Thanks again man.

Turbocruiser,
I wish my white 80 had all the TLC yours has had.
Especially that sweet turbo.
Nice gages on the pilar, super clean.

turbo, just curious what you would do if a part on the turbo broke?

Again, sweet truck and i super double-stamp wish i could poney-up and get me one of them there turbos.

Something to aspire to for a newbie. If my engine bay were to be that clean I would have to be unemployed.

Thanks CJ, gee, great question, several simple answers ... First the safari turbo system is super reliable and is proven all around the world from arctic environments to desert environments. Second, the turbo is based on basic Garrett T4 design and I already have several reputable turbo rebuilders who are willing and absolutely able to rebuild the turbo to original spec or even to extremely modified spec. Third, the only totally custom castings to the turbo 'system' from safari I already have on hand or I already have on order so that whatever ever wants to go wrong, I can quickly make it go right. Fourth, if the turbo ever crapped out on road or even crapped out off road you can still drive the truck, granted there is lack of boost and presence of restriction but it wont leave you stranded. All in all, as much as I worry about anything at all worryable, I do not worry about the turbo; it really is reliable and as always, I've got "plan A" - drive the helloutta it and loveit, , , and "plan B" - fixit if you havta fixit. HTH.

TurboCruiser, Actually Do you really need Turbo to go Off-Road? Isn’t the turbo supposedly good for open road, freeway cruising and no traffic.

Strange question for a lousy lowriding cruiser head to have!!! :D Just Joking :D There are alot of misconceptions and misunderstandings about this. The safari turbo system starts producing power at about 1000 rpms - just four hundred rpm's or so off idle. The power is perfectly precisely predictible with no lag and no lurch. My exciting experience is that the power helps in almost all off road situations actually. Keep in mind off road means, well, anything off road. Well duhhhh huhhhh? Seriously though when I'm workin my rig up Pikes Peak's (or any mountain's) lovely loose granite gravel roads and throwing rooster tails of gritty gravel from all four wheels dontcha think the turbo helps? When I'm running a high speed sand run or a high speed snow run dontcha think the turbo helps? When I'm doing more mild logging roads at some slightly higher speeds the turbo helps. Even when I'm wheelin it off road the turbo helps to "trickle over obstacles" as safari advertises. I think the misconceptions around are all based on basic fact that the 1fzfe has plenty of power to wheel over almost all obstacles ... in other words power is not the thing that prevents people from getting over most obstacles; clearance is or traction is. Still, add alot of perfectly precisely predictible power to the 1fzfe and any obstacle is that much more manageable - provided enough clearance and enough traction. Anyways, hope that answers the question although I still truly struggle with why someone who would get high centered on a speed bump would want to know! :flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

LOL :D

Is this a gas or diesel truck?
I cant seem to find out what size turbo is on this kit. Looks amazing though.
APS makes some serious subaru systems and Ive researched what they are doing there. Good choice.
