I dont want to type a whole description of all the work I put in to this FJ40 yet, so maybe a photo journal would be best for now.

It had been sitting in the woods since '78 after it had apparantly blown a head gasket. The PO said it was his brother's or something. The tub was all cut up and rusty, no seats or seat brackets, not much of anything really. Luckily the tank wasn't rusting but pretty much everything else was. There was a nice 3/4" coating of moss on the roof. Anyway, a buddy was nice enough to go up to NH with his truck and trailer with me to drag it home. I power washed it and the stuff below is what was left. I spent the summer fixing the tub and focusing on some of the details.

Fast forward to a new place (with a garage and concrete. Pretty much an upgrade since I spent the first year laying in the dirt.

This was in August of '05. I painted it and finished setting up the interior. It took a long time to work out the seat brackets and get everything set up the way I wanted it.

Now this is how it looks after tonight. I added the ammo box last weekend, but hadnt wired anything up yet. In the box is a relay for the reverse light and the CB. I'm going to add a bus or something in case I want to put in other stuff at some other point. The CB is one of those all in one hand held deals, so its nice to be able to lock it in the box when I'm not using it. I notched a piece of the bracket I made to hold the Tuffy box so that it would accept the mic.

I finally got the horn working today as well as wiring up the reverse lights to the relay. I did a bunch of other stuff too, but I dont feel like typing much more.

Anyways, I've bored my girlfriend with this thing long enough. By next weekend I'll have it inspected and hopefully will be able to enjoy it for a while without turning a wrench.

Awesome job!
