Any use for an in-car monitor? If you are keeping the monitor, have you considered converting the VHS player to a DVD player, or a gaming system like xbox?

Geez that's huge and weird and something I never knew our trucks ever came with. This seems about as useful as the Lexus OEM car phone.

Right?! How do you even load it facing inward at the very rear of the vehicle except by crawling in the back with the vehicle stopped ?

Hey dog it's part of a whole antiquated kiddy package with the attached Rosen. Apparently Nakamichi made the dvd mechanism cause it worked the same as the head unit. Jammed too. The Xbox thing gets me thinking. Maybe use xbox or something to run games and movies to the monitor and store/ run music back to the receiver. Tear it out of the case and mount the guts to somethinf fitted for the space. Maybe even like a raspberry pi with a wireless keyboard/touchpad. Either way I could custom build a matching wood face to go across the front. Hmmmm.

Seriously though...no one else has one of these roof mounted vhs players before? Kind of makes me feel like I should preserve it like a rare antique or something. Along with my 8 track.

I like the xbox idea. If you removed the entire VHS unit, I have to believe there is room to mount an un-modified xbox unit. There should already be a power source back there, and connectors to the monitor (whose plugs will probably need to be altered).
