I'm about to pull the trigger on a Gamiviti for the price.. $800 shipped and the quality reports on Mud are stellar.

Price is the primary motivator here. THe flat rack is even $100-150 cheaper.

An RTT is in my future, and perhaps one of those canoe shaped storage boxes.

BBQ Boy, did you end up going with the Skybox or the rack? Either way, any thoughts on the decision? I'm making a similar decision for my 100 and could use your advice!

I also have some concerns about weather living in the northwest, so I may be leaning toward a box rather than a rack.

The Yakima and Thule cargo boxes are clearly not as sturdy or meant for off road use like the racks are. The do however have a big advantage for on road traveling. All of your personal items are tucked and locked out of site. Plus they are protected in a mostly water resistant box.

If you are road tripping you don't have to worry about someone stealing your stuff on the roof every time you walk away from the vehicle. Also saves a lot of unpacking at night when you stay in a hotel.

I don't know... I have used a box off-roading for years with no problems. sure it isn't as "expo cool". But, they work and if it fits the need... people should go for it. It has worked for me.

Maybe my experience is the exception though...
