Been searching lots for a decently priced roof rack (or plans) for a roof rack that is compatible with a 1989 BJ73 removable top. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I used four gutter mounts on mine, two facing backwards, and one on either side. I'll see if I can find some pictures somewhere. I don't know how much load that's good for on the frp top but I'd think it'd do 150lbs. Its certainly much easier than drilling the frp top or linking down to the body.

When I got my BJ74 one of the drip rails was broken by a rack mount. It was difficult to repair.

I chose a different mounting method using Thule Artificial Rain gutters and nutserts in the top.

The rack is a JDM Aiba Works that I picked up over there on a trip in 2010.

IMO ,you shouldnt support anything via the FRP top because they just aint strong enough and they are difficult to find on the used market.
Its not just the weight ,its also the shock loading from pot holes and the loading from swaying and braking.
Better to support it on the gutters over the doors and windscreen with the rear weight transferred to the bumper.
All the aftermartket FRP tops from Flexiglass and ARB for utes and pickups that have a roof rack option have a special frame inside the FRP top to take the weight.

The "gutters over the doors" are part of the FRP top. and are subject to damage from gutter-mount rack feet. Been there and fixed the broken gutter.

Yes they are ,but I was cautioning against joining anything to the top or the sides of the fibreglass.I should have been more specific. I have seen some good results from using the gutters with 2 wide mounts either side to spread the load, but anything placed up top needs to be lightweight.
