My '85 60 came w/ a nice 7 foot Wilderness Rack put on by the PO. However, the rack doesn't have a floor, which obviously limits its utility. SOR's got the solution, but it costs over $200 to get it to my door. I called the local welding shop and for 8 pieces of one inch steel tubing, with appropriate holes drilled, they're quoting about $100. By the time I got all the mounting hardware I figure I'd be at about $115 to do it myself. Can anyone think of a cheaper way to get a workable floor in? I've thought about just bolting in some marine plywood but that would wreck my already abysmal gas mileage, and look kind of beat. Any help/thought is appreciated.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, i think im gonna go with the marine grade plywood and paint the snot out of it to get the most years out of it before it rots. the top im gonna paint white to deflect heat and the bottum black to match my theme. I have a con-ferr rack so i think i can do it with one 8x4 sheet.

I bought mine used from a guy who had a mesh grill material welded in. It is very strong, and looks good too. Here is the material that was used:

I am running the same stuff in my rack.

If I were going to do it again I may look at some of these materials.

Great replies, thanks. I'm going to poke around and look for some used expanded steel; will post back with whatever I end up doing.

I went and measured my sheet of expanded steel but it came up short only 5.5 feet, and it was a little rusted. I would have given it to you (charged shipping) it's been in my garage for 3 years. Sorry, but keep looking let us know what you do and post some pics
