roof liner idea?

Anyone rip the stock roof liner out and just glue material of choice to the roof? I was thinking of gutting the roof liner and putting some black velvet or something up there and a disco ball? is there any problems when doing that? Should I just put material over the existing roof liner?

Gluing stuff in sounds fine to me, as long as you'll be able to live with the monster you've created. Keep in mind that you'll probably want to use some material that has some noise-dampening qualities to it...just a thin layer of fabric would probably make the car noisier inside.

Id think twice about gluing in a headliner. Didnt you have one of those buddies in highschool whose headliner in his Chevette was hanging down so far that you had to lift it up to look out the rearview mirror? Thats what happens when the glue wears out.

If its a trail rig, just cut off the roof and go bikini.

you can only have the black velvet if you paint a picture of Elvis and God touching fingers (like the Sistine Chapel) and have the disco ball attached to where their fingers meet...

I might use red crushed velvet instead. I would use really thick material almost like carpet or those heavy duty rugs material!

wall to wall lieterally..i have seen pics of the 70's vans with shag 4" long on the roof for a headliner!!
