Rock Warrior wheels center cap question

I am cleaning up the RW wheels in prep for getting some tires installed. I bought my wheels from two different places and they have different center caps. Basically, I have two with a wire spring retainer and three without. Don't know if it makes a difference or not. Maybe the retainer got tossed on the three. Any thoughts? Does it even matter?

The rings add some outward pressure to prevent the caps from falling out, but they're in there so snug anyway without the rings that I doubt it matters. I don't have the rings either on my center caps and none have gone missing yet.
