Hi all,
A cruiser guy from Surrey, that is not a member, but is heading up to River Shiver would like to come to the next meeting, as he would like to hook up with the few that are heading up to River Shiver for the long drive to Alberta. Anyway he was asking for an address to the Shop, so anyone that knows can you post it?
Thanks,
Deny

-stock diesels one group
-f's and 2f's second group
-V8's and other cruisers able to do higway speed on hills go in the third group

Why do ya have to judge people by what motor they have? Can't we all just get along? I think you'd be happier if you had a mullet in your avitar too....

How many of you guys are going to the River Shiver? I would like to go, but I'm going to Moab instead.

hmmmm, sucking diesel and deep fry smell for 15 hours (each way) ain't my idea of fun
nothing againt you stock diesel boys but 30km per hour up long hills gets boring quick
but on the bright side, I can get drunk off one beer so this leaves me more room for hauling fuel

Steve,
I think you are doing it all wrong, you got to inhale deeply and you will get high off diesel fumes, why do you think there's so many diesel guys.
Cheers,
Deny

Come on Steve...I don't even think Das Poo Vagon would go that slow up hills...At least not now that it has a super duper molecularly sound fuel pickup tube! :D

Ya just gotta slow down and enjoy the scenery...

Just wait till the first 12HT gets put in a 40 series here, or a pumped up 1HZ, or 1HD-T...even an intercooled propane injected 13BT...

 Oh ya...it was about enjoying the scenery...

:)

I happen to know of a sweet looking 45 with a 1HZ sitting in a driveway...... Do I have to say H55 too? I don't think he'd lend it out though. :D

I've owned a lot of cruisers, with F's, 2F's, 3B's, 2H, 283chev, 350 chev.
So I feel I can do a fair comparison on abilities of certain drivetrains

There are a few reasons why I don't travel slow
My SM420 is a four speed, first is so damn low it is useless on the street
So call it a three speed
top gear (4th) is one to one and combined with the V8 gets you around quite nicely in fourth
Most hills up or down are done in fourth.
Whipsaw is a good example. Most club members are familiar with this trip. Coming home from the trailhead in long weekend traffic, I need to use third going up most hills due to the volume of slow traffic. If there is no traffic, I only use third on a few sharp up hill corners due to the fact I lean so much. I fear seeing asphalt that close to my door handles ever since Bruce in his weeble wagon showed me he could pull off 45+ degree leans while going in a straight line if he wiggled the steering wheel.
so it is pretty simple
fourth gear on hills = smooth engine, better mileage, quieter cab noise, fresh air, extra time to stop at gas stations to fill up.
thirds gear on hills = higher RPM, way worse mileage, noisy as a room full of screaming kids, smell of diesel and KFC in the air, and having to make diesels pull over while I have to fill up more then twice as often.
I've had thoughts of a 13BT or 12HT going into one of my FJ45's. That will be a future project as well because both of the FJ45's are low mileage cruisers that run just fine on their stock F and 2F.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

Steve,
From what I gather, you are comparing diesel vs gas for on road driving, I don't think people buy a cruiser to drive on the road (I think). And from personal experience I have not had any trouble keeping up to the gassers on the trail, and I consider the slow road travel a trade off to cheaper fuel costs.
My 2 cents, Just defending us oil burners.
Cheers,

Meeting location

Just because no one responded to my original request, I will answer my own question, thanks to Bruce.
The meeting is at the address of:
Unit D 8940 River DR

So there suckas :flipoff2:

all the gas fumes must have wrecked my eye sight, I thought it was
-meeting location for the drive to Calgary, not the meeting location to discuss the meeting location and drive to Calgary.
no defense needed for diesels off road Deny
You would be totally broke driving a V8 with the amount of driving you do for work and school.
I bought my Cruiser to use as a multipurpose vehicle which covers all my interests and personal preferences of what a car,convertible,4x4,camping toy,V8 power, hobby, non plastic, tough truck should be.
see you at the meeting sucka!

Hey man,
I am totally broke!
