Let these pictures be a reminder to you fellas that are out there, driving your vehicle like a sports car, all over the interstate, like you are auditioning for the next "Fast & Furious" movie, cutting people off, that it's not worth it.

Luckily nobody in any of the 3 vehicles that were involved in the accident were hurt.

Took a weekend trip down to Nashville for the girlfriend's 50. Not only did we end up getting food poisoning while down there. We also got this plot twist thrown at us while traveling back home, north thru Louisville.

Ole Maggie pretty much did her job and saved our family's lives, and I'm grateful for that. It always sucks being in an accident, but the metal & plastic can be repaired, or replaced.

Now comes the fun part of dealing with all the insurance parties, involved.

The tow truck driver was able to drive Maggie onto the flatbed, but I'm pretty also sure the Cruiser is going to be written off as "totaled" I've never had to deal with a car being written off. So I don't even know what to do here...smh

Sorry to see this. Glad everyone is OK. Looks like all 4 corners took hits plus air bags. Almost certainly totaled. If its into the inner all-welded structure, she's gone. I feel for you and know the ride you are about to take. My wreck was in May and I just settle with insurance a few weeks ago. My situation was a bit unusual. I recommend doing your own market value research to determine the pre-accident value of your LC. Ultimate my insurance co gave me a fair value (actually really more than fair) but it took some "advocating" on my part.

Yikes, air bags deployed will surely be what tips it into the total category. Glad everyone is okay. Curious as to what exactly happened.
I'm not going to say much for insurance purposes, but we were traveling in the far left lane. A truck hauling a RV camper was traveling next to us. Some young guy driving a black Toyota Camry, cut in front of the truck next to us. The truck next to us, his camper swiped the passenger side of my vehicle when he swerved, and bounced us off the center median twice and we ended up skipping to a stop.

Thanks for that heads-up. I'm just glad nobody involved in the accident was hurt, and I wasn't at fault. I'm glad you were able to get your whole insurance situation taking care of. I'm kinda stressing that whole situation b/c I've never had to deal with that mess. Luckily I still have my 2004 LX470, and I'll be in a rental that's covered. Hopefully insurance will do what's right, and when they do, you bet your arse I'll be in another 200 series b/c she saved our lives!

My situation was really related to my rig being heavily modified. If yours is essentially stock, it will be easier.

Find what you think are comps to your LC. Use every resource you can, including the for sale section here, to create an aggregate and the market value for your vehicle. Since the 200 essentially had very few, if any, options it will be easier in that regard. When my 1 year old Tahoe Z71 was totaled out, the insurance comps were 2WD base models. After I protested, they modified the appraisal, but wouldn’t start anew. You have to be your own advocate.

Here is the list I complied for mine a couple months ago.

It’s a little time consuming but not hard.

Yes, my L.C. is stock, and thanks for the heads up.
Will you replace with another LC?
If everything works out, and the write off pays off the loan, then yes I will be looking to replace with another 200.

Thank's for sharing all that info. If you think of anything else, send it my way b/c I'm all ears.

glad to hear that. Hope all works out, and we see you in another LC soon enough.

Those Geolanders have weak sidewalls it seems. 😂

Glad everyone is safe.

The important thing is that you and your gf are fine.

Sad that the airbags went up. Without I would say that he is still in a great condition compared to my 200.

UPDATE ON MY CURRENT SITUATION:

Mud Brothers help me out here!

A State Farm total loss agent called me this morning, and informed me that they are categorizing my vehicle as an "Expedited Total Loss." After going thru all of the questions w/ the agent, they offered me a payout with everything all said and done at around $26.5k. I explained to the agent that I couldn't accept that offer and I explained my reasons why.
The first being, is that my loan payoff amount is around $32k, the second being, that when the bank appraised the vehicle two years ago before they approved the loan, they appraised the vehicle at $40k.
I also explained to the agent that I had spoken to the bank this morning and made them aware of the current situation.
I informed her that the title department of the bank I have the loan with gave me appraisal numbers of $33.5k on the vehicle this morning.
I mentioned to the agent as well that this vehicle has been meticulously maintained since my ownership. I explained to her that the price numbers for these vehicle's in my area and nationwide are allover the place, and that their are a few Toyota Land Cruisers in my area with around the same mileage as mine, that are selling for $40k...one of them being a 2011
The agent then did some more calculations and came back with another offer of $30,100.00 and told me that, that is as high as she can go payout wise, until they actually see the vehicle in person. She told me to keep in mind that if I wanted to wait until they send an appraiser out see the vehicle in person. That if the appraiser deems the vehicle not to be worth what they are offering me, then they will only offer me what the appraiser says it worth, and that will be there final offer. She also informed me that, since they are expediting this, that my rental coverage is only good for 7 days from this day moving forward.
I know insurance wants to pay me the lowest dollar amount possible for my vehicle. That is why part of me
is saying "don't accept the offer they are giving tou.",but the other part of me just wants to bite the bullet, and accept, but I feel like that is what they are wanting me to do.
At the same time I'm worried and stressed about this whole thing. I have never been in this situation before, and I don't want to wear my welcome out on not being paid out to where it comes back biting me in the rear.
If you guys have any advice you can offer, let me hear it, or feel free to private message me.

It was actually me, my girlfriend and our two kids all in the car when this occured. We have bumps and bruises, but we walked away.

I'm going to PM you.

Take the 30k and move on. Not a good deal. But the adjuster may screw with you.

It's always seemed to bizarre to me that the amount offered can change based on what the vehicle's state is in person, after the accident. Basically, you're paying insurance premiums as if the vehicle is in perfect condition (unless carfax states otherwise), but then they can lower their estimate because of some assumed or alleged condition that can't really be ascertained anyway after an accident has occurred?

Sorry, I know this is not helpful, but seemed like a good moment to vent.

That being said, if the amount they're offering right now is anywhere close to what the average price is that you're seeing in your area (don't automatically assume the rigs at the high price range are actually going to sell), then it might be worth accepting their current offer. Maybe see what the average price is both with and without the top and bottom price outliers. But if the average price in your area (especially for those that have sold) is much higher, then I would fight it.

Don't know if it's possible, but maybe see if Ed Martin Toyota (@Eric Sarjeant) can give an anonymized list of what similar LCs have sold for? (I doubt they would do that, but can't hurt to ask.) They're at least in the same state as you and probably have the best idea of price.
