Good threads, he's got a couple of styles in there. All the newer type of tread style.

Didn't re-read the details, just remember him going to hummer/military setup at some point.

His truck was also the one he  burned it down welding his rear wheel wells. Think he got it pretty cleaned up and then put it for sale.

So basically plain Jane thick rubber basic tread no frills (cheaper) tires??

Just an fyi back in 2001 I had a set of those 37" goodyears, sold them to a buddy who ran them on the rubicon on his 4runner with special 16.5" 6 lug rims. The tires were total crap. Most are retreads put on by a drunken monkey. They are hard as a rock and don't flex. They were built for a 10,000 lb hummer. Maybe with the double beadlocks u could air them down to -20 and they would be better but the retreads didn't even come close to lining up where they start/finish. Just my .02...not sure what they are using these days in the military but they couldn't be any worse. Also they don't make much for the 16.5" rim anymore. Most manufacturers go straight to 17's per my buddy who works at a tire shop and I've hunted for 16.5's in the past with very little luck. Hopefully urs are a 16??

It's the 16.5" rim.

I was a bit leery of them as I'd heard reports of them not flexing well, but I've dug up a couple threads where people got them to flex decent at around 20 (no internal beadlock, so too scared to go lower).

The 80's are fat not-so-little bastages at around 6k lbs, so weight wise we're significantly closer to the 8-10k hummers than a little 4-Runner.

I very well may hate the tires, we will see. :meh:

As far as retreads go, if I were to go that route it'd be Treadwright. I have a set of their BFG AT style 33's on the :princess: truck and love them. Their more true and easier to balance than many new tires. So that's an option for me....

Oh, I get it. Are they steel belted or bias ply?:hhmm:

Found the pic, this is at 20 PSI:

Watch CL- I've seen 16.5's pop up frequently-- of course now they won't since I've said that.

Trail Worthy Fab has the new style MTR (BFG Baja) that the military is running for around $130. They look pretty sweet. And that's like 1/3 to 1/4 the price of most 37" MT/MTR tires out there, so bonus. :)

Wuss...

I agree about the tires, though. I have a feeling you are going to hate them before too long.

I might. I'm a bit nervous about it. I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger tho if I haven't heard decent stuff about them from some forum members I tend to pay attention to though. So not everyone hates them.

Way I figure it, if I don't like them I'll just keep airing them down to get more flex.

(At 0 PSI I'll start asking if anyone has a vacuum pump.... )

Minus pressure....I like it! Kinda how the government runs the Treasury department. :D

Seems really expensive.

Tires can be bought for about $90 a pop, plus shipping. So figure maybe $500 there. Can be found on CL for cheaper from time to time.

Rim's likely do NOT have a safety bead. Some 16.5" rim's do, most do not. These are also not the hummer split rim bead locked jobbies. So you're likely limited to about 20 PSI for airing down, these big, heavy tires won't flex that much.

I think it's too expensive myself, especially since you'd have to have them re-centered if you wanted to run them on 6 bolt Toyota axles. Centers are $44.95 for flat, $64.95 for pressed. That's for the Hummer rim, not sure if they'll work on these or not. But regardless, that's an additional $325 to recenter them (not including labor costs).

You can buy H1 rims from Trail Worth Fab for about the same price, with beadlock insert, rock rim, and re-centered for about the same cost.

H1 rims you can pick up for dirt cheap (darn near free), and other steel 16.5" rims you can pick up for real cheap. Heck even the "fancy" ones sold by 4WP are only $75 a rim.

So yeah, that deal is too spendy. Half that price and it might be interesting....

Painted to match my rig! But, gee, I don't know, there are some scratches on that one in the pic. I hate scratches.

TWF just gave me a call, they're getting ready to ship out my order in the next couple of days.

They're out of the Goodyear MT's, so they're upgrading me to the Baja T/A's at no additional charge. According to them, they flex better than the MT's.
