Hey everyone,

Just want to say hi and introduce my self to the forums. Coming from the GXOR FB page, I want to try to contribute to the forums as much as I can as its the platform I have grown to love.

Although im new to the GX platform and to offroading, i have worked on and owned street cars for the past 10 years and continue to track a car.

I bought an 04 gx a few months ago. It is my daily so it wont get to wild. I want to keep it simple yet functional.

Current:
255/80r17 ST Maxx
Fn counter steer type-x 17x8 et-10
2” lift spacer/tricked air bag
Wheelers front bump stops

Plans to do a more serious suspension after i get the maintanace dailed in 100%.

I like the nice clean look with sliders and tal tires

Welcome aboard! Great looking rig. Been running the ST MAXX on a few rigs now, they are a really good all-purpose tire IMO. I have the 285-70-17 on my GX but it seems like the Pizza cutters are more popular with the GX. Don't think I'd be able to pull it off w/ my 8.5" wheels and aired down but I do like the look.

Thanks. I agree that 255’s are to skinny for a 8.5” wheel. A lot of people run that set up though so it seems to be ok. Personally I wouldn’t go wider than a 8” wheel with them.

The tires have been great! Got me through some slushy mud that came up past the bottom of my doors no problem. They did great in sand too, even in the rutted up soft/deep stuff. Well, “deep” for the Texas coast.

Do you think with that wheel tire setup that it would fit the front without a lift?

I know it’s been done before. I forget the username that did it. He had to trim a lot.

My setup only required pushing the front wheel well plastic forward. I removed the running boards before ever even looking to see if those would rub.

Aired down the spare to get it to fit in stock location.

Welcome. Putting Cooper ST Maxx 255/80/17 on this week
