Rice Peak pics

Cabin fever set in so I took a ride yesterday. What a disappointment, looks like the FS took a dozer up there and did some "improvements".
It's been several years since I've wheeled the loop and now I did most of it in 2wd. I think a stock taco can make it now.

First pic, this used to be one of the rough spots.

I just drove to Rice Peak a little over a month ago. It had it's rough parts, especially at the end, but I wonder if the bulldozing was done after I was there. It felt to me tougher than just 2 wheel drive, but then again, I'm just a newb.

It does get a little rough toward the end, but nothing like I remembered.

Used to be in August, all the trees on the peak were covered by millions of lady bugs (so much so that the bark looked red). After the fire, there is no trees left on most of it.

When I was up on the top, there were a million lady bugs! I'm still pulling lady bugs out of my cruzer to this day. It was a fun drive. I grew up in Tucson, so it was nice to see those areas from that perspective.
You got some good pics too. I got a couple shots of deer drinking/running around. I'll try to post some later.

He's also got about 5 salt blocks laying around it. I was going to leave him a note to put some cammo paint on that sheet of tin so the animals didn't have to wear sunglasses

Rice Peak Main Loop has been graded for years since the Aspen Fire. The only rough way in is from the East.
