Hi guys,

I have been thinking about buying a LHD hzj79 troopy and a LHD hzj79 single cab from south America, but today i found out there is RHD HZJ79 double cab fire trucks in Japan, and the price may end up being the same or less, compared with a beaten up south American market truck.

Also, there is no other way to get a double cab , older than 2009 model right ?

Thanks in advance

No, there were no OEM double-cabs before 2012. Only the RHD fire-trucks from Japan, and aftermarket conversions from South Africa. FYI Troopy designations are 75 (pre-1999) or 78 (2000-onwards), pickups are also 75's (pre-1999) and 79's from 2000 onwards.

Generally the consensus is to stay away from South American trucks if possible, so you would be wise to consider a RHD fire truck if that's the vehicle you'd like. See here for some inspiration: Builds - 2001 HZJ79 Ex-Fire Double Cab Build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/2001-hzj79-ex-fire-double-cab-build.1267188/

You can also look in Australia for Troopy's but beware - the prices at the moment are rather eye-watering.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I think this can be a really good option to start, specially if there is no other way to import at this price point.

And the condition of these trucks look pretty good compared with the troopy of the same age .
I might still look into a troopy, but i should probably just focus on one thing at a time, for the best price and condition possible.
A fire truck also makes it unique, with the high roof.

Is the length of these fire trucks the same as the newer hdj v8 double cab ones?
