Sure this has been addressed, but: cons of imported RHD FJ80s? I’ve been lusting over a few but wanted to get the lowdown. Thank you.

It’s still a gasser when diesels are an option is a big con in my mind

So a big con is RHD. Not that many people want a RHD vehicle (me included). And like ZCissner says, why bring in a gasser? One of the big reasons to bring in a cruiser would be to get one of those great Toyota diesels.

The mail man in my neighborhood growing up just drove on the wrong side of the road :hillbilly:

I would add "reversing through the taco bell drive through" as a pro. Please debate among yourselves.

It would also be easier to implement this device as you won’t need to cross over to oncoming traffic to use it.

Totally agree with Matt.

I’ve got a 91 JDM that I brought back to the states with me. It’s almost no inconvenience and I love the looks I get. It’s a great conversation starter. I’m sure resale isn’t the easiest among LC enthusiasts, but I’ve had quite a few people stop and ask me if I’d sell it. Holds a special place in my heart so I don’t think I ever will. I say go for it if you find something you really like.

I am guessing OP means diesel and is using the term FJ80 to refer to 80s in general. Seems more likely than someone actually looking to import a 91-92 80 series with the 3FE and RHD.

@twhtwh I think you'd be looking for an HDJ80, HDJ81, HZJ80, or HZJ81.
